Violet Benson, better known by her online alias and persona Daddy Issues, is a Russian-born American comedian and a podcast host. She is best known for running the Instagram account "Daddy Issues".

Career

Benson started her Daddy Issues Instagram account on July 5, 2014. Benson has earned over 5 million followers on Instagram and is known as one of the fastest growing accounts and one of the largest funny female accounts[1] that even MTV took notice.[2] Though best known for Instagram, Benson is also a stand up comedian, television host, and a podcast host.

After signing with UTA in 2022, Benson signed a 6 figure podcast deal for her podcast, Almost Adulting, with Gumball and another 6 figure deal for her second podcast, Hey Besties, exclusively with Spotify.[citation needed]

Almost Adulting is one of the top mental health podcasts in the space. The podcast runs twice a week, every Tuesday and Thursday and focuses on dating, relationships, and mental health. Violet has various guests from celebrities to therapists but the podcast is most known for unique style of her solo episodes.[citation needed]

Prior to UTA, Benson was represented by CAA[citation needed]

Benson kept her identity a secret at first [3] until August 31, 2015 due to a lack of self confidence, when she finally decided to reveal her identity via an exclusive interview with MTV.[4] Before her big reveal, Benson served as a guest blogger for MTV during the pre-show coverage for the 2015 Video Music Awards and was later named "The Instagram Meme Queen" by Vanity Fair[5]

Benson then launched her own website,[6] which includes blogs, memes, videos, an advice column and in 2017 her own clothing brand,[7]

Style of comedy

Benson blogs, curates memes, creates original memes and creates funny videos where she makes fun of herself and the struggles of growing up in the 21st century.[8]
