Arseus possesses an ability unique to itself, Multi Type, an ability introduced in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl; the ability changes Arseus' type, as well as its appearance, according to the plate (out of 16) attached; for example, if the Fire Orb Plate were attached to Arseus, it would become a Fire type, and parts of it would become red. The plates encompass all of the existing types of Pokémon, except for the Normal type, as Arseus' original type is Normal. Additionally, when the Blue Sky Plate is held by Arseus, it will become a pure Flying type, making this one of the few instances of a pure Flying-type Pokémon (Kecleon's Color Change ability and the Porygon line's Conversion2 move also allow this). Furthermore, this ability marks the first time that every type is represented in a legendary Pokémon (or any Pokémon, for that matter). Arseus' signature move, Judgement Pebble, works hand in hand with these plates, changing type depending upon the plate held. Oddly, Psypoke has an image of an additional color of Arseus; One that is said to be the ??? type. Although there is no plate that corresponds to it, it is indeed similar to the ???-type color in the games.

Arseus is obtained via an event, in which the player receives the key item "Heaven's Pipe". The player then climbs Tengan Mountain to reach the Spear Pillar where Dialga or Palkia was encountered. Standing on the mysterious symbol before the pillars, an option will pop up to ask if the player would like to play the Heaven's Pipe. After selecting yes, a flight of shining stairs will open up leading to a higher ground known as the Beginning Dimension. The player then walks along the path and Arseus will be waiting at the end of it, at Level 80, giving it the record as the highest level wild Pokémon in any Pokemon game, other than the wild Pokémon in the Battle Pike and Battle Pyramid in Pokémon Emerald, which can go up to level 100, and the Kecleon in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, which are Level 90.

Arseus (アルセウス, Aruseusu, Arseus in original Japanese language versions) is the 493rd of the Template:Pokenum fictional species of Pokémon creatures from the multi-billion-dollar[1] Pokémon media franchise – a collection of video games, anime, manga, books, trading cards and other media, created by Satoshi Tajiri. Arseus is one of the legendary Pokémon that premiers in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. The purpose of Arseus in the games, anime and manga, as with all other Pokémon, is to battle both wild Pokémon, untamed creatures encountered while the player passes through various environments, and tamed Pokémon owned by Pokémon trainers.[2]

Its name may come from the Greek god Zeus, who was king of the gods.

Biological characteristics

Arseus is possibly an equine being that may be based on a horse-like mammal or qilin. Its body is white and has gold hooves attached to its four legs. Its hair or mane is quite long and its face is green. It also has some sort of wheel attached to its body, which changes color based on Arseus' current type.

In the video games

Arseus made its first appearance in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl for the Nintendo DS, along with many other Pokémon.

Arseus is theoretically the strongest of all Pokémon, with the highest combined stats of any existing Pokémon. It is one of two Normal-type legendary Pokémon, along with Regigigas.

Its high Attack and Special Attack allow it to unleash powerful attacks while also utilizing its high defenses in order to withstand powerful attacks from other Pokémon. It can learn almost any TM or HM move, excluding attacks involving arms, which it lacks.

Arseus is also the only one who can learn this move, and it learns it only at level 100.[3]
