The series was announced in 2019 by Star Bharat,[7] an official television adaptation of the 1993 Hindi film Darr.[8] The promos were released in December 2018. Ram Yashvardhan was cast in the titular role, and was joined by Manul Chudasama and Sheezan Mohd as leads.[9][5][6] Due to creative differences Manul Chudasama[10] was replaced overnight with Srishti Jain.[11] Nattasha Singh was cast to portray the negative lead.[12] Mahek Chahal[13] had a cameo appearance in the show, but later replaced with Sara Khan.[14] It premeried on Star Bharat from 21 January 2019[1] and went off-air within 9 months on 21 September 2019, due to low viewership.[2]
