In that case, I suppose the other thing I wrote should be deleted. I came to this conclusion myself. (Then again, it makes a lot of sense, and it is not an opinion but a very likely theory. Does this still count?) |

Deleting my article
Hello I have created article about our dictionary application and you deleted it several times. I do not like that at all. In fact I hate it so much that I will NEVER create ANY article on wikipedia again. I will not contribute anything and will not help you with anything. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Arael2 (talk • contribs).

The information on homepage of the program contains same information I want to have here. But since you deleted it several times I will NEVER create ANY article here again and warn all everyone I know about what you do. Adriana Lima's myspace
There is a debate going on at Adriana Lima's talk page whether to list her myspace under external links, and it's basically going nowhere. I believe myspace should be normally avoided, but WP:EL says social networking sites should be avoided "except for a link to a page that is the subject of the article or an official page of the article subject," so I think her myspace should stay at least for now. I want to hear your take on whether her myspace should be listed under her external links or not. mirageinred 20:59, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New question. I am working on improving articles for Illinois. One of the things that have come up are about templates. We started a Wikipedia:WikiProject Illinois/Templates page, but there are about three that were created before we made a standard. What I would like to know, is there an official standard on how county templates should appear? I personally do not like listing the population and think that "Points of Interest" clutter up the template when they should be able to find that info in the county article. Could I have your take on this if you have the opportunity?--Kranar drogin 04:57, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Now we are having an issue with a guy in the group complaining that we shouldn't be putting the county name in townships, example Marion Township. WOuld you mind weighing in for a moment on this talk page Illinois Township Questions, and giving me your point of view. It is towards the bottom of the article where he comes in at. Basically, we have been modeling our project after those who worked on Ohio and Pensylvania.--Kranar drogin 22:25, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have two more articles that need to be merged. Brooklyn, Illinois needs to be merged with Brooklyn, Saint Clair County, Illinois. New question, sorry. We have a pretty big problem. La Salle County, Illinois is spelled wrong. It should be LaSalle County, even go to their website[13], or the Illinois State Archives [14]. The US Census for some reason has La Salle. Should we change this then, and just have a redirect of La Salle County? Is there a way you can automate that or is that something we are going to have to go in and change everything with? We can still do a redirect with La Salle, but LaSalle is the correct spelling. If you can't automate the change, let me know and I can manually fix everything I guess. Just will take awhile!--Kranar drogin 23:34, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't cite copyright infringement as your first reason for deletion on an article such as this one, because we always get authorisation for stuff like this, and it's a waste of our time having to research something that should have been deleted for non-notability or blatant advertising. Deleting a link
A few days ago I contributed a link to the Computer and video game item clichés article, pointing to a project which started two years ago and concentrates exclusively on the crates and barrels topic (actually I think it´s much more than just a cliché, but thats another point). You deleted it referring to the 3rd guidline.
Instead of other links on this wikipedia article (like Gamers Manifesto, 1up.com, etc.) the site does not contain any advertisment, it´s not a wiki, blog or social bookmarking site, nor does it require any payment or external applications. Instead it is a site "that contains neutral and accurate material that cannot be integrated into the Wikipedia article due to [...] amount of detail" (see: "What should be linked").
Just to make things clear: I do not gain any direct benefit by linking this site with wikipedia at all. Instead it´s my seemingly out fashioned way to "give something back" to the community. Thinking about the early Nineties, when the Web 1.0 was a place people contributed content to the non-commercialized Internet by writing html, the "you tried to promote a personal site" accusation bewilders me. Anyway, maybe just an era has passed and I don´t want to realize it yet.

Please revive WP:FAIL redirect, at least temporarily.
I understand that the essay "Wikipedia is failing" has gotten re-userfied, at least for a while. I understand the R1 (links to deleted article) and R2 (links from mainspace to userspace) rationales for deleting the redirect page WP:FAIL. However, that essay is still a matter of public interest and discussion, and that link to it still appears in those discussions, notably in the "reply" essay "Wikipedia is not failing" and its talk page. Yet new readers only see a redlink, nothing that will take them to the original essay where it is now. While it's still "newsworthy" (being discussed), would you please allow that link to work, recreating WP:FAIL as #REDIRECT [[User:Worldtraveller/Wikipedia is failing]] ? Who knows what may happen in, say, two weeks? The issue may be resolved, or the essay may return to mainspace, "or the horse may learn to fly". Thanks! -- Ben 01:45, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You yourself said "Consensus is to not respect trademarks except in very few specific cases (in example, when the second letter is the capitalized one)." I think it's totally unfair to make just a few exceptions. Allow it or not. Sorry, but I have the impression you're acting with discrimination. Taking off my links
You say i'm trying to promote a site by adding a photo gallery. Okay, so why are other photo galleries allowed? On the very same page as some of the ones you edited, there are links to other sites' photo galleries, yet mine are trying to promote the site? The others are fine though right? Explain the logic behind that. If links to photo galleries aren't allowed, then remove them all. Don't set a double standard.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kensai1824 (talk • contribs) 12:42, 18 February 2007.

Reporting Admin Abuse
che brujo, where do I report an Admin that is abusing their abilities? A page was vandalized, someone removed content that had appeared on it for at least a year, and had also deleted cited info without any explanations. I restored the content, but because my IP is similar to that of a blocked user, an overzealous admin actually restored the unexplained deletion and blocked my account. I have made several attempts to communicate with the admin without making a single personal attack, his response is to delete my comments on his talk page. How can I report admin abuse? I can't seem to find the correct forum to do so. Gracias 74.230.195.63 09:07, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Query regarding discussion on a proposed move
Hi Reybrujo. A user proposed moving Seiken Densetsu to Mana Series on February 15th. Since then it seems like the discussion has gone from a consensus-finding topic involving most of the editors, into an ongoing dispute between user:A_Link_to_the_Past and a few other people. Since it's been over a week and seems to have descended to the level of a squabble, I would appreciate your input here. There are other areas in which the Seiken Densetsu article needs attention, and this hubbub seems to be drawing attention away from that. 07:01, 25 February 2007 (UTC) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ex-Nintendo Employee (talk • contribs).

Ex-Nintendo Employee
Ex-Nintendo Employee suddenly exploded at me because I reverted him twice and added a fact tag to a sentence which he disagreed with its placement. He has been extremely insulting and uncivil, and I would like you to suggest that he stop violating Wikipedia policy. Here are some examples of his horrible behavior:
- "ridiculous, pointless comments."
- "his ludicrous decision"
- "absolutely worthless when it comes to the project."
- "he always seems to drag the articles into some stupid, pointless fight over absolutely nothing"
- "ridiculous, pointless circular arguments."
- "his ridiculous behavior"
- "I don't really give one shred of rat tail what this user thinks, or what his opinion is regarding him or anything he does."
- "but this user's behavior goes absolutely beyond the pale."
- "His edits are a prime example of absolutely everything that Wikipedia behavior ought not to be." (which ironically, he said this after edit warring and calling me a worthless Wikipedian).
- "because it's a plainly obvious thing that, quite frankly, is beyond completely stupid to try and fact tag."
- "Anywho, I've wasted far too much time on this and I won't be responding to this guy because he'll just spend a month pissing and moaning like he did in the Seiken Densetsu article and wasting my time."
- "And my time is worth more than his by a wide margin."
All comments directed at me. - A Link to the Past (talk) 08:33, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Also, he had insulted me previously (well, in a separate but related "discussion"), and he then continued to insult me after I told him that he was being uncivil (worse insults even). - A Link to the Past (talk) 09:40, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Hi ReyBrujo. Once again, LTTP is creating a tempest in a teapot and just trying to twist facts to make himself look good, as he has done dozens of times before. As you can notice from the edits, first he started revert warring over the article that he had attempted to attain "wikiownership" of (in his case he was shoving an unwarranted fact tag), then he tried to "recruit" me into joining little Wikiproject while at the same time continuing to maintain his revert warring. I then, quite politely I might add, responded with this edit, which reflects my TRYING to remain civil while still dealing with his EXASPERATING edits at the same time. He proceeded to insult me, then he called me a TROLL and erased my comment from his talk page. My "comment" that he decided to misquote and take out of context was merely a note I placed on MY OWN talk page (not his talk page), and it was not aimed at HIM (because I have absolutely no desire to communicate with him) but was intended to be read by page visitors in general. As you can see, he's now resorted to Wikistalking (apparently watching my talk page and my contributions) as well as his insults at the same time. As you can see, Reybrujo, this user is dishonest and doesn't have anything but out-of-context quotes in order to try and personally attack me. But when you put the entire situation into said context, things turn out quite differently. You'll note that EVERYTHING said on my talk page- from his circular arguments to his extensive history of incivility, are completely warranted. On Wikipedia, a user's worth, at least in my opinion, is certainly able to be gauged by a few things; the number of valid edits able to be accomplished while at the same time the ability to accomplish those edits while remaining civil and not getting into massive fights about those edits. I provided clear, concise evidence that the user, given his massive range of blocks for incivility, 3RR vio and personal attacks, is CLEARLY unable to maintain composure while editing. Hope things have been put a little more into perspective. Ex-Nintendo Employee 17:32, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Ex-Nintendo Employee. No, you were not civil in your "polite" message. You were notoriously rude. I have done NOTHING to you, and yet you felt the need to bite my head off. - A Link to the Past (talk) 22:45, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I wanted to ask a question: if, for instance, Yoshiyuki Sadamoto would write his opinion in an article about a character in NGE, for instance (obviously, not using 'I think...' but 'Yoshiyuki Sadamoto has stated that he finds that.../...to be...'), would it be legitimate? --Shunra Hoshen —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 217.132.68.172 (talk • contribs).
- That is considered original research. Wikipedia is not a publisher of original thought. We need to use information that has already been published. In fact, I remember once the author of a song did write some personal comments (how did he compose the song, when it was recorded, the recording sessions, etc), but it was all removed because it was not suitable for the encyclopedia. We would need to change a few policies to allow such texts. -- ReyBrujo 19:04, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
