Digit Al is the robot character who promotes digital switchover in the UK. Until 2012 he will star in the public information programme run by Digital UK, the independent body that oversees the country's switch to digital TV.
The character first appeared on television screens on 5 May 2006. In a first for the advertising industry, he appeared simultaneously on about 100 television channels and also on regional BBC television.
Digit Al is voiced by the English comedy actor Matt Lucas. The character was created for Digital UK by Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO.
