Tourism is an important contributor to the economy of Tharali, with the region attracting a large number of visitors each year. Tharali is a tehsil (administrative division) in the Chamoli district of the Indian state of Uttarakhand.[1] It is located on the banks of the Pindar River and is known for its picturesque location and scenic beauty.

The tehsil is one of the most populated in Chamoli and consists of more than 200 villages and towns, including the famous Gwaldam town. Located in the Pindar valley, this area was the border of Kumaun and Garhwal[2] and is the home of Nanda Devi of Badhangarhi. It offers stunning views of the Nanda Devi and other Great Himalaya peaks. Due to its strategic location, the tehsil also hosts important SSB facility of CI & JW TC.

Tharali is also known for its rich natural resources, with forests covering a significant portion of the region. The tehsil is home to a number of wildlife species, including the Himalayan black bear, musk deer, and leopard.
