Union Sportive du Pays de Cassel is a football club based in the Nord department of France.[1][2] Since the 2020/2021 season, it competes in the Régional 1, the sixth tier of French football.[3]
History
US Pays de Cassel was founded in 2018 after the merger of several smaller local clubs.[4][5]
On 14 January 2023, Pays de Cassel eliminated fourth-tier side Wasquehal in the round of 64 of the Coupe de France following a penalty shoot-out.[6][7] This set up an encounter with Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in the following round, played at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis in Lens.[8][9][10] The game had to be played in Lens because Pays de Cassel's stadium did not meet the requirements for the round of 64.[11] US Pays de Cassel conceded seven goals against PSG; these included five from Kylian Mbappé.[12]
