Bill and Tom Kaulitz

Bill Kaulitz (born in Leipzig, Germany, September 1, 1989) is the vocalist of the German band Tokio Hotel.

Life

Childhood

Bill Kaulitz was born to Simone and Jörg Kaulitz. His stepfather (Gordon Trümper) had a big influence on him with his music, as his stepfather is a guitarist in a band. His identical twin brother Tom Kaulitz is the guitarist in Tokio Hotel and was born 10 minutes before him.

Style

Bill is known for his androgynous rocker look often consisting of band tees, faded jeans, and goth metal jewelry. Bill has been known to wear thick eyeliner and he has both his tongue and eyebrow pierced. He also has two tattoos: Tokio Hotel's logo on the back of his neck and a star on his abdomen. Bill's hair has changed throughout Tokio hotel's success, with short black hair and bangs in his face to long black hair with some blonde highlights.

His motto is allegedly Leb die Sekunde (English: Live the second).

Personal details

He currently lives in Loitsche, near the town of Magdeburg in Germany, although he temporarily lived in an apartment in Hamburg (with the whole band) because they were recording their new album. He is 185 cm tall (5'11) and weighs 50 kgs (110lbs).[citation needed]

Career

Bill has been singing since the age of seven, as well as song-writing. He appreared on shows such as the German version of the popular American television show, Star Search and performed alongside his twin, Tom, in multiple shows. In 2001, he and Tom later met Georg Listing and Gustav Schäfer. After realzing the four boys all shared similar musical tastes, they formed a band together under the name, Devilish. After playing small shows in bars and clubs, the group was approached by music producer Peter Hoffmann in 2003 and were soon after signed with Universal Music Domestic Division in Hamburg, when they then changed their band's name to Tokio Hotel. Assisted by other writers, Bill co-wrote the majority of the songs on their debut album, Schrei. The album sold quickly and Tokio Hotel became a European pop-sensation, in their own right. In 2006, the band re-released Schrei as Schrei: So Laut Du Kannst Edition (Scream – As Loud As You Can Edition) after Bill's voice fully matured. Their latest studio release, Zimmer 483 (Room 483), was released February 23, 2007. Despite a minor setback in the creation of their soundstage, which the band chose to have built to suit their own style, rather than using a pre-made soundstage, the band will still be going on tour, beginning in April, 2007. Originally, their promotional tour for Zimmer 483 was due to begin the first week of March.

A promotional tour for the Zimmer 483 album, in America, is rumored to take place this fall, after Tokio Hotel tours the United Kingdom.

Bill has also dabbled in acting, having made an uncredited appearance in a German televison show, called Verrückt Nach Dir in 1994 alongside his brother, as well as providing the voice to the title character in the German dub for the Luc Besson film, Arthur und die Minimoys (Arthur and the Invisibles).
