Chin Evangelical Baptist Church

Chin Evangelical Baptist Church also known as CEBC-INDY is a Christian Church located in Indianapolis, Indiana. The church was founded by twelve Christian members including Rev. James Sangawi and Rev. Dr. Thawngling Mualhlun on August 20, 2000. Rev. Dr. Thawngling Mualhlun is now serving as Senior Pastor. Chin Evangelical Baptist Church has more than 3000 members and six pastors.

History

Chin Evangelical Baptist Church was founded in Indianapolis, Indiana by Chin-America who came to the United States as refugees. On August 20, 2000, Rev. James Sangawi gathered 9 Christian adults and 3 children to start this church.

Church Name

The first church service took place at Brookwood Apartment, 621 Turtle Creek North Drive #10, Indianapolis, IN 46227, and on the second service September 24, 2000, they had their first communion. The church was named Indiana Chin Community Church (ICCC) that same day. Before they had found a better place to hold Sunday service, they had service only once a month. On June 2001, they started their weekly service at Woodland Baptist Church, Indianapolis.

On June 17, 2001, the name ICCC was changed to Chin Evangelical Baptist Church (CEBC). They used American churches to hold their Sunday service for twelve years. From July 2001 to 2006, they used Southport Baptist Church. From February 2006 to September 2012, they used Southport Presbyterian Church and after twelve years of using American churches, they were blessed with their own Church which they are using currently, at 5610 S Meridian St, Indianapolis, IN 46217.[1]
