RTVI (before 2002, NTV International) is an international multi-platform media outlet in Russian, comprising a TV channel, news website, digital platforms and accounts in all major social networks. RTVI broadcasts in 159 countries as of January 2023. RTVI has a total audience of around 20 million people.[9] In Russia, RTVI is available in digital - website, 6 YouTube channels, Telegram channels, social networks.
RTVI has a correspondent network around the world, with 14 correspondent outlets in New York, Los Angeles, Moscow, Tel Aviv, Berlin, Riga, Yerevan, Bishkek, Astana, Kiev, Tallinn, Paris, London and Vilnius.
History
1997 - NTV International begins broadcasting. It was a pioneer in the field of foreign Russian-language TV broadcasting and opened a category of Russian-language TV channels in the United States. Its owner was Vladimir Gusinsky.
1998 - Broadcasting to European countries was launched.
2000 - RTVI was launched in New York for Russian-speaking viewers. From this year the media holding counts down its birthday. RTVI's concept was to broadcast relevant news and quality programs for Russian-speaking residents of foreign countries. In the first years broadcasting was mainly on the territory of the USA.
2002 - RTVI was founded as the successor of NTV International. The main shareholder of RTVI at the time was one of the founders of NTV Vladimir Gusinsky, with former NTV director general Igor Malashenko as president. TV presenter Andrei Norkin was the general director of RTVI's Moscow office.
2012 - In March, Ruslan Sokolov, a Russian entrepreneur, bought RTVI.
2016 - journalist Alexey Pivovarov was appointed RTVI's new general producer in September.
2017 - RTVI rebranded and the broadcasting grid was updated. The concept was changed and the share of informative and entertaining content increased. In addition, the website rtvi.com was relaunched, and official social media accounts were registered. An in-house studio was opened in Moscow.
2019 - Mikael Israelyan becomes the main owner of RTVI.
Also this summer, Alexey Pivovarov left the position of RTVI editor-in-chief (the position itself was abolished) to focus on his own YouTube channel, Editorial, which continued to work closely with RTVI.
In July, rock musician and leader of the band Leningrad Sergei Shnurov becomes RTVI's general producer.
2021 - In April, Olga Piven becomes the CEO of RTVI.
Olga has been working in communications and marketing for more than 15 years, managing large-scale projects. Among them are the launch of international and Russian campaigns in cooperation with Martini, Kaspersky, and Yandex brands, an entertainment partnership with the global giant Cirque du Soleil, and implementation of a number of activities with other major brands.
Olga's professional experience also includes television projects. She took part in the launch of the TV channel "Match TV", which has been broadcasting in Russia for more than 5 years.
At RTVI, Olga is in charge of strategic and operational management of the media group, development of distribution and broadcasting, creation and improvement of business infrastructure, and brand promotion. Her area of control includes all editorial offices and divisions of RTVI worldwide.
In November 2022, RTVI Olga received the Woman Who Matters International Award.
In June, Dmitri Suryaninov joins the team as Director of Information Broadcasting.
A full-fledged federal digital-editorial office was formed in September, and Vladimir Dergachev became the site's editor-in-chief.
2022 - In February, Yevgeny Piskunov became the editor-in-chief and CEO of RTVI US. In March, Sergei Shnurov announces a temporary cessation of cooperation with RTVI and returns to his music career.
In August, Konstantin Obukhov, a former creative producer of entertainment projects at TNT TV channel, becomes the general producer of RTVI.

RTVI's audience coverage at the beginning of January 2023 was about 20 million people. RTVI is broadcast by more than 350 operators worldwide, and the number of broadcasting countries is 159.
Since 2021, RTVI is available in Asian countries: China (including Hong Kong and Macau), Taiwan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, India, Vietnam, Singapore and New Zealand, South Korea, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Cyprus.
Key deals in 2022 were:
- Launching broadcasts in 88 countries in Latin America and Africa.
- Re-establishing RTVI collaboration and broadcasting in the U.S. on key platforms Directv, Comcast and Canada on the OTT platform ETVNET.
- Transition to a new satellite in Europe, which allowed the launch of broadcasting in German cable networks, including one of the largest, Tele Columbus.
- Cooperation with Medianet, the biggest operator in the Maldives.
- Launch on the network of the largest operator in Kazakhstan - ALMA TV.
- Launch of broadcasting in the network of the largest operator of the Republic of Armenia - F net Telecom.
RTVI in the Metaverse
RTVI was the first Russian-language media outlet with a global audience that created its own representation in the Decentraland meta-universe, one of the largest virtual reality platforms powered by Ethereum blockchain. It is also actively integrating technological innovations into digital platforms. For example, a special section was created in Telegram using the Midjourney neural network - news and reviews on top topics in the format of pictures created by AI.

CEO OF RTVI US
The position of CEO of RTVI US, as well as Editor-in-Chief of RTVI US in 2022 was taken by Evgeny Piskunov. Previously, Evgeny managed NTV's U.S. newsroom for more than 16 years, from March 2005 to January 2022.
RTVI general producer
In August 2022, Konstantin Obukhov, chief creative producer of Comedy Club Production, was appointed general producer of RTVI. His responsibilities include updating the entertainment programming block and creating new formats for satirical shows.
Konstantin Obukhov has extensive experience in creating original television formats for TNT, TV-3 and other channels. In particular, he has developed such programs as "Comedy Battle", "Dancing" and "Open Mic".
