Keep Logo of a soccer club for the soccer club falls within usual "identification criterion" of NFCC - beyond this, concensus also exists here that the politicing surrounding this particular logo is especially critical to understanding the team's history.  WilyD 13:59, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

• Speedy keep. We have explicit policy on logos set out at WP:NFC#Images, that the fact that the logo is or was used for identification of the subject of the article makes it acceptable use. This reflects the fact that (i) there isn't a cat's chance in hell that a U.S. court would rule this as anything other than legitimate fair use, on the four factors; and (ii) that by their very nature, such logos are not replaceable by user-generated content. This is a vexatious nomination, and appears also to be forum-shifting, since things aren't going the nominator's way at WP:FUR#These Logos. If the nominator doesn't like the policy, he should go to WT:NFC and try to change it. Please also apply this comment to all the following similar nominations below. comment the explicit policy is that non free images are not used unless "...its omission would be detrimental to that understanding" (WP:NFC#8), to include every minor variation of a club logo is un-nessicary. A US court is not the issue, the issue is the goal of the wikimedia foundation. These logos have nothing to do with the WP:FUR, the FU review is not discussing histoical logos, if you want to start a new thread there, by all means do, but I cant see it being accepted, there is no prescident for using every historical logo to identify any organisation on wikipedia article. • Strong keep I think the use of logos up for AfD here clearly satisfy the non-free content criteria #8 (significance) in their use in articles about sports clubs because they are being used in these articles for identification. One example of useful identification is to distinguish among sports clubs with similar names, and the logos certainly help in identifying the club (take the mulitple "Ahli" football clubs). Additionally, a particular city or region may have multiple sports clubs, and the use of logos helps with identifying the various clubs. Jogurney (talk) 13:27, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

comment I think the current logo is more than sufficient, for this purpose, to include every historic logo is excessive, and their omission would not be detrimental to that understanding (wp:nfc#8). • Strong keep Especially considering the history of East German teams, the logo changes are interesting in order to understand the degree of flux relocation/renaming of clubs led to. Similar reasoning applies to other historical club logos, as mostly the reason to come up with a new logo was not just because the old had become unfashionable.
