The New Zealand flag, shown below, consists of a Union Jack in the top left hand corner, and four red stars with white borders.
The Union Jack symbolises New Zealand's Commonwealth heritage. The stars represent the Southern Cross, they have five points and are all of the same size.
The flag is similar to the Australian flag, except the Australian flag has six solid white seven-pointed stars.
