Patchogue, New York is an incorporated village on the south shore of Long Island located within Brookhaven, New York, Suffolk county, New York. North Patchogue, New York is a Hamlet and Census-Designated place located within west Brookhaven bordering Islip, New York, in Suffolk county, New York. Although these are 3 different "areas". it all is usually referred as "Patchogue".

Public services such a sanitation, Police forces And fire Departments vary. Patchogue is served by Suffolk County Police Department and has its own public safety force. Patchogue also has its own fire department and Sanitation services. Although North Patchogue has its own fire department, Police forces and sanitation are left to Brookhaven, New York Workers. East Patchogue is served by the Patchogue fire Department and North Patchogue fire department. Same as North Patchogue.
