Niccolò Pisilli (born 23 September 2004) is an Italian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Serie A club Roma.
Career
Pisilli began playing football with a local club Helios, before moving to Roma at the age of 8 and working his way up their youth categories.[2][3] In November 2022, he signed a professional contract with the club until 2026.[4] Having originally been assigned to their under-19 team, he made his professional debut for Roma on 6 May 2023, as a late substitute in a 2–0 Serie A home loss against Inter Milan.[5] In April of the same year, he was part of Roma's under-19 squad that won the Coppa Italia Primavera.[6][7]
International career
Pisilli is a youth international for Italy. He was called up to the Italy U19s for 2023 UEFA European Under-19 Championship qualification matches.[8]
In May 2023, he was included by head coach Carmine Nunziata in the Italian squad that took part in the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina.[9]
Style of play
Pisilli is a complete midfielder who can contribute offensively with goals and assists, and also in the defensive phase. A constant presence in Roma's youth sides, he is able to withstand blows on the pitch and has uncommon tactical intelligence that helps him break down plays. His speed of thought helps him with interceptions and recoveries.[3]
