Liquid football is an American professional soccer team based in the Metro Detroit area. The team currently competes in the Midwest Premier League (MPSL).

History

On January 17, 2023,The Midwest Premier League is proud to announce Liquid Football as the latest club to join the league for 2023. Based in Detroit, Michigan, Liquid Football was launched in 2022 by co-founders Javi Bautista and George Chomakov, both of which have a strong history of soccer in the area.

Javi played for Detroit City FC in 2015 and 2016, then returned to DCFC as a player in 2018 when the club made the transition to pro where he also served as Assistant Coach. He’s familiar with the MWPL, as he served as the Head Coach of Detroit City FC’s U23 team in 2021 and led them to an East Conference Championship in their sole season in the league. Javi played collegiately at Gardner-Webb University (NCAA D1) and Ashford University (NAIA) and currently coaches for the Michigan Hawks (ECNL).

George is a Bulgarian immigrant who settled in Michigan at an early age. He also played with Detroit City FC from 2014 to 2021, which makes him one of the longest-rostered players in club history. George also played locally for Schoolcraft College (JUCO) and has since served as an Assistant Coach at Hamtramck High School and Assistant Coach under Javi at DCFC U23s. [1]
