In late 1995 Brad Bird was in development of a film titled Ray Gunn under Turner Feature Animation but due to the Turner Time Warner merger the film was scrapped and Bird would later direct The Iron Giant. [11][12][13] It was later announced in 2019 that the film would be made under Skydance Animation.[14]
