"Ill Placed Trust" is a song by Canadian rock band Sloan, written and sung by Patrick Pentland. The song goes back to the early days of Sloan, in 1992, when it was originally written. The earliest live performance of the song is from March 20, 1992, where it was performed at The Grawood, in Halifax.[1] Sloan originally recorded the song during recording sessions for their second album, Twice Removed, in 1994, while still stationed in Halifax, at their apartment at 31 Clayton Park Drive.[2] The song was eventually officially released fourteen years later, as the second single from the band's eighth studio album, Never Hear The End Of It. The song reached number 27 on the Canadian Rock Charts, in 2006.
