Hi @Paulpat99: How goes it? I see a SPA was in and removed sections that were largely unsourced from this BLP. They have an entry up at Coin. I don't know what they are doing here removing the stuff. Normally I wouldn't defend a SPA doing such a thing, but the article is largely unsourced. They can't sit with CN tags on them. The article is too old for that. Would you be up for sourcing them and putting them back in. scope_creepTalk 16:16, 7 September 2021 (UTC)
- @Scope creep: I Completely understand your points and agree. Yeah I'll look start the task. Cheers, Paulpat99 (talk) 19:35, 7 September 2021 (UTC)
2022 team season pages
Hey Paulpat99,
Happy new year to you! Thanks for the help with the team season pages; I haven't been able to get to them sooner because I've been much busier with real life this year than last year, so the help is much appreciated. That being said, before you create the 2022 page for a particular team, can you perform the same end-of-season changes to that team's 2021 page like I've done for Trek–Segafredo, EF Education–Nippo, and Ineos Grenadiers so far? That would mostly involve grabbing references for results from those races' pages and updating the roster with any stagiaires. Also, please just make sure to remove any information that is no longer applicable for the 2022 pages (e.g., Premier Tech as a key sponsor for Astana Qazaqstan).
Cheers! Benjamin112 ☎ 08:02, 3 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Benjamin112: Happy New Year to you also. Yes I'm sure I can look at fixing the end of season for the teams. I apologise for the errors in the Astana Team I ended up quickly finishing ass it got late and decided I would fix in the morning so thanks for that. Thanks, Paulpat99 (talk) 18:23, 3 January 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for adding refs
Thanks for adding refs, to some of the article lacking them. Material that is uncited may be tagged, or alternatively deleted - the burden to supply the ref is on the person re-adding it, which you have kindly done. Too many people treat wp as a repository for uncited information. They don't get to foist the responsibility for providing a ref on others - those who add it, should do so themselves. This is especially true with BLPs, though it is not limited to them. --2603:7000:2143:8500:514:437F:7C59:FB23 (talk) 18:04, 14 April 2022 (UTC)

Hello @Paulpat99,
Congratulations on reaching 5,000 edits!
I'd recently expanded out the table for the Tour of Southland page, to include a column for countries, though you've reversed that edit. As there have been a small number of non-NZ winners of the ToS, I'd put in a countries column, as it would allow visitors to discern out that information. It's also in keeping with the table format used for the New Zealand Cycle Classic and REV Classic pages. I'm not clear why the ToS table should be handled differently to the ones at those pages. If you can enlighten me, please do! (Am fairly new to editing, hence the query.)
Also, the 1973 ToS winner, Michael Hughes, is notable for being the first Southlander to have won the event. It's on my ever-increasing to-do list to create a page for him. Just not sure how long before that happens though!
Kind regards Aerohydro (talk) 05:12, 11 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Aerohydro Cheers, I guess that to keep standard in NZ races it could be done however I'd recommend using Template:NZL than the way you had it before. I was more looking at damn okay the page I was looking at has it in this format then I apologize but the coding used in other pages is with Template:Cycling past winner rider. I will undo my revert apologies for any trouble caused.
Regarding Michael Hughes; is he notable in any other sense? Does he meet Wikipedia:NCYC?
Cheers, Paulpat99 (talk) 06:04, 11 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Paulpat99 Thanks for reverting the page. Appreciate your doing that. Going forward, I'll check the formatting provided by the templates, before doing similar editing. (BTW, thanks too for fixing the tables at Le Race. In my sandbox, I'd tried and tried to get the sorting to work, but just couldn't. In the end just uploaded the tables as I had them.)
- Mike Hughes, as he's better known as, wouldn't meet the NCYC criteria. However, post ToS, he had an interesting business history, which might help to make him eligible for inclusion.
- All the best, Aerohydro (talk) 08:46, 11 June 2022 (UTC)

Alpecin suplementary stats
Hi @Paulpat99,
I saw you noticed my edit on suplementary stats of You have called {{Contentious topics}}
. You probably meant to call one of these templates instead:
Alerting users
- {{alert/first}} ({{Contentious topics/alert/first}}) is used, on a user's talk page, to "alert", or draw a user's attention, to the contentious topics system if they have never received such an alert before. In this case, this template must be used for the notification.
- {{alert}} ({{Contentious topics/alert}}) is used, on a user's talk page, to "alert", or draw a user's attention, to the fact that a specific topic is a contentious topic. It may only be used if the user has previously received any contentious topic alert, and it can be replaced by a custom message that conveys the contentious topic designation.
- {{alert/DS}} ({{Contentious topics/alert/DS}}) is used to inform editors that the old "discretionary sanctions" system has been replaced by the contentious topics system, and that a specific topic is a contentious topic.
- {{Contentious topics/aware}} is used to register oneself as already aware that a specific topic is a contentious topic.
Editnotices
- {{Contentious topics/editnotice}} is used to inform editors that a page is covered by the contentious topics system using an editnotice. Use the one below if the page has restrictions placed on the page.
- {{Contentious topics/page restriction editnotice}} is used to inform editors that the page they are editing is subject to contentious topics restrictions using an editnotice. Use the above if there are no restrictions placed on the page.
Talk page notices
- {{Contentious topics/talk notice}} is used to provide additional communication, using a talk page messagebox (tmbox), to editors that they are editing a page that is covered by the contentious topics system. The template standardises the format and wording of such notices. Use the below if there are restrictions placed on the page.
- {{Contentious topics/page restriction talk notice}} is used to inform editors that page restrictions are active on the page using a talk page messagebox (tmbox). Use the above if there are no restrictions placed on the page.
- If a user who has been alerted goes on to disruptively edit the affected topic area, they can be reported to the arbitration enforcement (AE) noticeboard, where an administrator will investigate their conduct and issue a sanction if appropriate. {{AE sanction}} is used by administrators to inform a user that they have been sanctioned.
Miscellaneous
- {{Contentious topics/list}} and {{Contentious topics/table}} show which topics are currently designated as contentious topics. They are used by a number of templates and pages on Wikipedia. team so I wanted you to ask: Do you think I should also add Brabantse Pijl to the table? They have some great results there (win in 2019, second in 2020, top 10s in 2021 and 2022) so I think it should be written in the stats. Thanks in advance! Šimisborec (talk) 11:34, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Šimisborec You can add it if you want, I just saw that the race has been around a fair while and has some prestige so I believe it’s worthy of a mention. Also if you look at the List of wins by Quick-Step–Davitamon and its successors someone has added many one day races there. I guess with additional races it’s a team by team basis and yes Alpecin looks good for Brabantse Pijl. Cheers Paulpat99 (talk) 18:08, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
Cycling Team Kranj
Hi. I relly dont understund how reference they need about new page for new team (you made red this) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Cycling_Team_Kranj . I recieved this:
This submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources. Reliable sources are required so that information can be verified. If you need help with referencing, please see Referencing for beginners and Citing sources.
This is getting frustrating. I don't know what kind of references you can give for the new (2021) Conti team other than https://www.procyclingstats.com/team/ct-kranj-2022 https://firstcycling.com/team.php?l=29119 http://kklub-sava.si/ekipe/ List of 2022 UCI ProTeams and Continental teams

- @Livetrackingsamo You need like newspaper articles showing the team. The website ProCyclingStats should not be used as a main source. Also I found an article that already exists for the team but with its old name, Sava (cycling team) so I will make edits there about the team and fix the links. - Ok. I asked because you are an expert. I still don't understand the logic of the wiki, especially since there is a big difference in the displays in different languages for the same article.....But I will learn :) Livetrackingsamo (talk) 11:28, 8 August 2022 (UTC)
Citation needed for full name ...
Are you serious or what... Demanding "citaion needed" on a person's middle name has NEVER happened to me, I've been at W for 10 years, written over 150 articles, edited 1000's and never encountered this.
Do you really think that Gustav Johansson would lie about his name, should I have to get his birth certificate and show you???
If you don't remove it, I'll take this to the village pump, I've never on W seen anything more stupid. - Jonnmann (talk) 11:47, 3 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Jonnmann I do not appreciate your tone. I see your points however, where is the source located to show his full name? This is required under WP:Verifiability. Other pages do have the name linked with a source in the info box so I was just following what they did. If you can show me a source in the article that shows it then I will remove it. The source shouldn't be a user-made website WP:USERG. Although like you said it would be silly for him to lie about his name, but the first page on his website does not talk about his full name. - Well well well.... you really know how to complicate things unnecessarily, instead of making it better. I'm really glad this has never happened in any of all the languages I edit in, and there are many. I leave this article and all comments on it, so you can continue to complicate it, and if you want to delete it, I don't care one bit.... Period. Jonnmann (talk) 13:08, 4 October 2022 (UTC)
- I did not complicate anything. Anyways happy editing, Paulpat99 (talk) 17:04, 4 October 2022 (UTC)

Team Redlands
Title sponsor is no longer Wildlife Generation, so that should go to past tense. Team Redlands has been the owner of the team since its inception. Reference is Team Redlands owner Danny van Haute. I have been media relations officer for the team for many years but was not for the past two years. Jefffrowe (talk) 19:05, 27 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Jefffrowe Hey, do you have a source for which you have stated? Your comments show that you have information not publicly stated regarding the future of the team this must be verified (Wikipedia:Verifiability) to show that it meets Wikipedia:No original research
- Saying that you know the team and have previously worked for the team is a Wikipedia:Conflict of interest so you editing their page is strongly discouraged.
- Team Redlands may be the owner company of the team. However, team pages are named as their uci name or if inactive then as their most recent team name, look at Katusha–Alpecin they use their last name although they were run under the Katusha brand only. Paulpat99 (talk) 20:24, 27 October 2022 (UTC)
- Source is Danny van Haute. Team owner. Your formatting suggestion is fine. Thank you. Jefffrowe (talk) 20:31, 27 October 2022 (UTC)
- Is the information published? If not it cannot be included in Wikipedia as it must be verifiable specifically the quality reliable WP:SOURCE "Source material must have been published, the definition of which for the purposes of Wikipedia is made available to the public in some form. Unpublished materials are not considered reliable." Otherwise sweet as, happy editing Paulpat99 (talk) 20:37, 27 October 2022 (UTC)

Help out
Hey, could you help out at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Davide Ricci Bitti? Got a real stubborn guy insisting on getting this deleted. Thanks, Seacactus 13 (talk) 23:24, 11 November 2022 (UTC).
- @Seacactus 13 I can try. The issue is they changed WP:NCYCLING to make presumed notability about winners only, not participation. So the way to get them included is by winning a race or have enough sources to make them notable. I will do what I can to the article to help it out. But because of their stupid change about notability I think a few articles need beefing up. Paulpat99 (talk) 03:57, 12 November 2022 (UTC)
- I see he has a few wins in races but I cannot see what level of racing it is as older races are kinda hard to determine but here: GP Industria Casini, GP Industria Casini 2007 as per FirstCycling website. Paulpat99 (talk) 04:48, 12 November 2022 (UTC)
- I was not aware of that change! Thanks for the help expanding it, I will also add anything else that I am able to find. Looks much better already for sure! Seacactus 13 (talk) 07:01, 12 November 2022 (UTC)
Deleted articles
Kia ora Paul, I see that you've had a handful of articles deleted. Very annoying when that happens but also not unusual for new editors to experience that before you get the hang of WP:GNG. If any of those bios are something that you'd like to put further work into, I can restore those articles and move them into your user space. You can then work on the bios until notability has been met. Let me know if that's of interest. Schwede66 00:41, 13 November 2022 (UTC)
- Hi @Schwede66: as a new editor I was completely unaware of WP:GNG so I saw there were cycling articles so I just made them. As time has gone on I have learnt the significance of Notability and have put more effort into articles making sure that when I create them they are not just stubs but have some content. The deleted articles I believe will probably not meet notability either at all or for a long time so I see no need to restore them. Also with the recent change in WP:NCYC being from participation based to actually winning something there is less of a chance of that.
- Thank you for putting in the time to check me out and giving me a few tips it is greatly appreciated. Paulpat99 (talk) 00:48, 13 November 2022 (UTC)
- Just hit me up with any requests beyond your permission level. Schwede66 05:25, 13 November 2022 (UTC)
- BTW, I've checked with my neighbour and winning national champs has only started in senior years. Hence, I assume GNG won't be met. Schwede66 21:42, 20 November 2022 (UTC)

AFD input
Hey what would you lean for Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Samuele Conti? Seacactus 13 (talk) 19:04, 28 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Seacactus 13 I saw this when it first arose. I tried to look for more sources but there are not any besides about his suspension. Jack Leonard Haig
Hi Paulpat99! :) I added that "Leonard" in Jack Haig since I found this source, that it is clearly copy-pasted from an official standings, so even if it is rare to find other sources (but there is for instance a picture credited on Alamy), I assume it is correct to say that he has Leonard as second name. - Good find, next time you add the middle name as you did also add the source too so that people can see how you get the information. Paulpat99 (talk) 08:12, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
Tour de france winners
hi. Can I have an help? as you can read in User talk:NapHit#Tour de France I have a problem with the modification with the page List of Tour de France general classification winners. I tried to do my best adding the datas in french wiki in this en.wiki page nut this user deleted it because say it is too much detailed. Have you some opinion about this situation? 151.28.59.17 (talk) 23:30, 22 July 2023 (UTC)
- I agree with what @NapHit has done. Adding the group sets and frames is not relevant. An average reader would not have any idea what the significance is. Knowing the teams and times is more relevant though. Unfortunately the French and English wiki differ quite a lot. From what I’ve read the English wiki has stricter standards and rules. I am currently away so will have a close look in a few days. Paulpat99 (talk) 04:31, 23 July 2023 (UTC)
- I added the question in the talk. I don't know how to let the community know it, can you help me? 151.28.59.17 (talk) 08:35, 23 July 2023 (UTC)
