The Vaccine War is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language medical thriller film directed by Vivek Agnihotri and produced by Pallavi Joshi.[1] It tells the true story of the development of the Covaxin during the COVID-19 pandemic in India. The film features Nana Patekar, Pallavi Joshi, Raima Sen, Anupam Kher, Girija Oak, Nivedita Bhattacharya, Sapthami Gowda, and Mohan Kapur.[2]

The Vaccine War is marketed as "India's first bio-science film".[3] The film is scheduled to be theatrically released on 28 September 2023.[2]

Premise

The movie honours the commitment of the scientific community and medical community during the tumultuous COVID-19 pandemic.[2]

The film was announced in November 2022, last schedule commended in June 2023 and shoot wrapped up on 13 August 2023.[6]

Release

Theatrical

The theatrical release date was announced via teaser revealed on 77th Independence Day of India.[4] The film is released on 28 September 2023 clash with Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire.[7] Previously it was set to released on 15 August 2023 and then 24 October 2023.[6] It is planned to be released in eleven Indian languages[8] including Hindi, English, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Punjabi, Malayalam, Gujarati and Bhojpuri.[6]
