Tipu Sultan Masjid also called Shaheed Tipu Sultan Masjid is a mosque located on the Prince Anwar Shah Road in Tollygunge, Kolkata[1] in the Indian state of West Bengal.[2][3][4] It was built in 1860 by Ghulam Muhammad Sultan Sahib, the youngest son of Tipu Sultan after the Tipu Sultan Masjid was built.[5][6] It was named after the ruler of Mysore also known as King of Mysore Tipu Sultan.[7][8][9] Abdus Sukur is the Imam of this Mosque.[10]
Controversies
- In May 2011, after the death of Al-Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden. A special Namaz was offered for the peace of the soul of the dead led by controversial Maulana Nurur Rehman Barkati.[11]
