The Tiger Bay Club is a Florida-based political club, sometimes called the most prestigious political club in Florida. It is considered non-partisan or bi-partisan. The organization is open to professionals interested in political dialogue and discussion. There are chapters in most major Florida cities. The membership structure is based on open membership with annual dues. The monthly meetings, where members hear from political speakers and get to ask questions, are at paid luncheons. The Charter and By-Laws of the organization prevent it from endorsing candidates or taking sides in political campaigns. The meetings, which attract top-name political officials and candidates, as well as other important political-related figures, are usually open to the media and lead to write-ups on various campaigns.

History

The Club was founded by Dan Cunningham in 1971 after meeting with then Governor Reubin O'Donovan Askew, who agreed there was a need for a new uniquely and specifically political organization instead of the usual civic organization. The first chapter was formed in Tallahassee, Florida; with the first meeting hosting Governor Askew. The first meal was $2.75, while the meals now are usually $30. Many national, state, and local officials and candidates would come through and speak to the club in the proceeding years.
