Tony Kelly (1975 or 1976)[1] is a photographer from Dublin, Ireland.[3]
Career
Born in Ireland,[4] Kelly worked as photojournalist while a teenager.[5] Working for the Independent News Group, he covered the conflict in Afghanistan for several years, before later moving to fashion photography.[6] In 1996, his photo of a kiss between musicians Bono and Liam Gallagher drew additional exposure and prompted a change in his career.[citation needed]
Kelly subsequently left the newspaper world and Dublin for the United States.[citation needed] As of 2013, he was based in Los Angeles[7] and sold his work to publications like Vanity Fair,[8] Playboy,[8] GQ,[9] and Cosmopolitan.[citation needed]
Kelly has been described by GQ España as "irreverent and provocative",[10] and by Photo magazine as "spontaneous and hyper-energetic".[11] Photo magazine also said his work "plays with humour and provocation" and that "his flashy style has conquered the world of fashion".[12]
Books
In 2014, Kelly released a self-published coffee table book called "Tony's Toys".[citation needed] Blink magazine described it as "groundbreaking" due to its "innovative layout, dimensions, and large-scale images".[13][full citation needed] His second book, "Taken! Entertaining Nudes by Tony Kelly", was released in September 2016 by teNeues. Maxim described it as a "showcase of some of his strongest - and sexiest - work to date".[14][full citation needed]
