Noah Patrick Ylagan (born April 2, 1996) is a Filipino-Mexican American, American football coach and former American football college player, Is currently a football coach at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa

Early years

Ylagan attended Montessori schools, and Our Lady of Grace Chapel catholic school in El Cajon, California.  They have a sports program to play against other parochial schools.

He excelled in Basketball, Flag Football, then Baseball travel baseball with the Encinitas Red, and American Soccer club with the San Diego Surf.

At 11 years old, he wanted to try tackle football.  He played in Pop Warner for coach Savaii Seau, the older brother to the late, Pro Football Hall of Famer, Junior Seau.  Seau taught him to love the game, and that the hard work would always pay off.

After graduating from catholic school, Ylagan attended West Hills High School in Santee, CA.  There he honed his skills in Football, Track, and Baseball.

At graduation, he was a four-time letter winner for the Wolfpack of West Hills High School, (two in football, one in baseball, one in track).  Awarded Team’s Offensive Player of the Year in Football 2013 season.  Graduated in the Spring of 2014. Final stats for West Hills High School Football

College Years

He received an offer to play locally at Grossmont College in El Cajon, California as a defensive back, and was redshirted in the 2014 season.

Briar Cliff University reviewed Ylagan's Recruiting Video. Then offered Ylagan a scholarship to play running back in the summer of 2015. He accepted and enrolled at Briar Cliff University, Sioux City, Iowa and played college football for the Briar Cliff University Chargers, division NAIA.  He made his debut in the GPAC in the fall of 2015

As a Freshman in 2015, Former BCU Head Coach Tom Rethman, recognized his hard running style. He installed Ylagan as the #2 running back as a freshman. Ylagan played in nine games for the Chargers.  He was second on the team in rushing with 247 yards and two touchdowns on 61 carries, averaging 4.0 yards per carry.  He racked up a season-high 125 yards on 15 carries and scored two TDs against Dordt University ...also had eight receptions for 88 yards.

As a Sophomore in 2016, Competed in 11 games for the Briar Cliff.  Gained 681 yards on 192 carries to go a touchdown...hauled in 21 receptions for 139 yards and two touchdowns.  Attempted two passes, and accounted for three solo tackles.  He punted 40 times for 1,298 yards. He kicked three for five, on field goals with the longest made coming from 30 yards out against Midland University.

As a Junior in 2017, Named 2nd team All-GPAC…rewrote the Charger’s record books this season as he became the first 1000-yard rusher in school history and finished the year with 1,334 yards on the ground. For the season, the team went winless (0-10), Ylagan also set school records for the most carries in a game (41), rushing yards in a game (265), most 100-yard games in a season (6), and most rushing touchdowns in a season (8). Ylagan had two 200-yard rushing performances on the year, running for 265 yards and two Touchdowns on 33 carries at Dakota Wesleyan. Carried the ball 41 times for 218 yards and a score at Hastings College. Ylagan averaged 121.3 rushing yards and 5.1 yards per carry. With the help of Ylagan, Briar Cliff piled up a school record of 2,013 team rushing yards for the season, breaking the old school record of 1,337 rushing yards.

As a Senior in 2018, Ylagan played in all 11 games for Briar Cliff and was named second-team All-GPAC. Rushed for 1,125 yards and six TDs. Also caught nine passes for 113 yards and two touchdowns and threw a 56-yard touchdown pass. Was the leading factor in the team breaking a school record with 2,069 team rushing yards on the season. Contributed to Briar Cliff University football’s first winning season ever.   Top performance came against Dordt University with 199 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Graduated with High School Diploma from West Hills High School in Santee, CA in 2014

Attended one year at Grossmont College in El Cajon, CA in 2015

Graduated from Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, IA  in 2019,  with a Bachelors degree in Kinesiology and Human Performance,

Graduated in 2021, from the University of Dubuque in Dubuque, Iowa. Earned Master of Business Administration in Communications

Career

Currently an Assistant Football Coach for NCAA Div III Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa, as a Strength/Conditioning, and Quarterback coach.
