Please submit error reports only for content that is currently or will imminently appear on the Main Page. For general discussion about the Main Page, kindly use its talk page. |
National variations of the English language have been extensively discussed previously:
|
To report an error in content currently or imminently on the Main Page, use the appropriate section below.
- Where is the error? An exact quotation of the text in question helps.
- Offer a correction if possible.
- References are helpful, especially when reporting an obscure factual or grammatical error.
- Time zones. The Main Page runs on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC, currently 03:48 on 28 November 2024) and is not adjusted to your local time zone.
- Can you resolve the problem yourself? If the error lies primarily in the content of an article linked from the Main Page, fix the problem there before reporting it here. Text on the Main Page generally defers to the articles with bolded links. Upcoming content on the Main Page is usually only protected from editing beginning 24 hours before its scheduled appearance. Before that period, you can be bold and fix any issues yourself.
- Do not use {{edit fully-protected}} on this page, which will not get a faster response. It is unnecessary, because this page is not protected, and causes display problems because this is not a talk page. (See the bottom of this revision for an example.)
- No chit-chat. Lengthy discussions should be moved to a suitable location elsewhere, such as the talk page of the relevant article or project.
- Respect other editors. Another user wrote the text you want changed, or reported an issue they see in something you wrote. Everyone's goal should be producing the best Main Page possible. The compressed time frame of the Main Page means sometimes action must be taken before there has been time for everyone to comment. Be civil to fellow users.
- Reports are removed when resolved. Once an error has been addressed or determined not to be an error, or the item has been rotated off the Main Page, the report will be removed from this page. Check the revision history for a record of any discussion or action taken; no archives are kept.
Errors in the "In the news" section
"Twenty-one people are killed when a bus falls from a bridge in Venice, Italy."
The incident happened at Mestre, a town in the Province of Venice but that is located on the continent, not in the insular city. I propose the article to be amended into: "Twenty-one people are killed when a bus falls from a bridge in Mestre, Venice, Italy."

- The with in Fly with Me should not be capitalized, per MOS:TITLECAPS. —Matthew / (talk) 05:32, 5 October 2023 (UTC)

- Q4 - 4th hook "of a murder onboard a bus" - onboard should be two words. JennyOz (talk) 09:50, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
- 5th hook "that an old paper mill is being redeveloped into a residential area" - I can't access all sources but I get the idea that all the mill structures have been demolished, ie no mill buildings are being repurposed. If so, should hook say "that the site of an old paper mill is being redeveloped into a residential area"? JennyOz (talk) 09:50, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
- Both Done. I went with "on a bus". I can access a few of the Alphington sources and couldn't see any suggestion that the mill structures are being repurposed. Pinging GMH Melbourne to make sure "the site of" works for them. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 13:39, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
Errors in "On this day"
- 2008: should be in past tense. Also: we could remove "crater" from the bolded link to avoid repetition and since the article title doesn't have the word as part of the crater's name. — RAVENPVFF · talk · 00:20, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
