Taurean Green is the starting point guard on the 2007 University of Florida Gators Men's Basketball Team, which won the 2006 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament on April 3, 2006 as well as the 2006 SEC Tournament. Green was named tournament MVP of the SEC Tournament and the 2006 Coaches vs. Cancer tournament (held in November 2005.) Taurean Green has also passed the prestigious 1,000 point benchmark in his career at Florida, racking up over 1,000 points in just 3 seasons, one of which he did not play much. Other teamates to pass this benchmark include Joakim Noah(MVP of the 2006 Men's Division I Basketball Tournament), Corey Brewer, fellow starter, and Al Horford, who was the latest of the 4 to pass it doing so in the March 4th game against Kentcuky. These four also are roomates. In 2007, its been much the same, as the Gators 2007 SEC Tournament, and are in the Elite 8 in the 2007 tournament.
Taurean Green is the son of former NBA player Sidney Green.
