Who I Am
I was an academic librarian whose work focuses on information literacy and teaching. I've also written a great deal in my field—books and articles—and done a lot of editing as well. My recent scholarship focuses on metaliteracy, and open pedagogy. I have a passion for creation—I paint, sew, weave and spin (occasionally), embroider, and attempt to create bobbin lace.

Wikipedia Involvement
I became involved with Wikipedia through the Art+Feminism 2018 project, when I led an editathon at the university library where I worked. This was followed by joint Art+Feminism editathons with the University Art Museum. I continue to add content about women artists and writers and whatever else catches my interest, and also participate in the 1Lib1Ref initiative. I was particularly excited to use the Wiki Education Program in my undergraduate information literacy course in spring 2019, and found the connections between editing in Wikipedia, metaliteracy, and information literacy to be extremely pertinent and effective for student learning. Seeing the entries my students have created or contributed to is such a pleasure. I refined the course in Fall 2019, and taught it through fall 2021.
I've started to load photos on the Wikimedia Commons, particularly from my travels and needlework examples. I look forward to finding additional ways to become engaged. I’ve introduced others to Wikipedia editing through a workshop fo my work colleagues, and have written an article about it for the March 2023 issue of Needle Arts, the publication of the Embroiderers Guild of America.
