Knighthoods and medals are a European, not a Laotian tradition. The French colonial regime introduced the Laotians to these honors. The first knighthood founded by a Laotian king dates from 1909. Unlike the Royal Order of Cambodia and the Order of the Dragon of Annam of the Empire of Vietnam, the French did not take possession of the indigenous Laotian knighthood.

- The Order of Female Merit (Lao: "Itsarriyaphon Sati Suphaphon")
- The Order of the Government of Sisavang Vong
