Submission declined on 25 October 2023 by Qcne (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

Darren Charlton (born May 27 1973) is a British novelist. His debut novel, 'Wranglestone' was shortlisted for the Costa Book Awards[1] and won the Waterstone's Children's Book Prize[2] for Older Readers. It was also named one of The Times[3] Best Books of the Year 2020.
Biography
Darren was born and grew up on the south coast of England. He studied B.A(hons) English Literature and Film Studies at De Montford University Bedford. He lives in his hometown of Hastings.
Career
In 2018, Charlton secured a two-book deal with Little Tiger Press[4] for his debut novel Wranglestone and it's subsequent sequel. Wranglestone follows the burgeoning relationship between two boys, Peter and Cooper, in a post-apocalyptic America ravaged by zombies. The novel tracks the survival of an island community living within a fictional national park and the threat winter poses once the water freezes allowing the Dead to cross the ice.
Wranglestone's handling of the zombie sub-genre would be 'heralded as one that pushed the genre across unforeseen barriers'[5] . An 'achingly tender love story' [6] part zombie epic, part political allegory, part gay love story. A sophisticated new voice' [7]. Wranglestone went on to be shortlisted for the Costa Book Awards[8] and YA Book Prize, longlisted for the Branford Boase Award and Polari Prize and won the Waterstones Children's Book Prize for Older Readers [9]. It was named one of The Times[10] and The Observer[11] Best Books of the Year. A direct sequel, Timberdark, published in 2022.
