This section is here to provide answers to some questions that have been previously discussed on this talk page.
Note: This FAQ is only here to let people know that these points have previously been addressed, not to prevent any further discussion of these issues.
Q1: Why does this article describe Aung San Suu Kyi as a former state counsellor? Is she not still the duly elected leader of Myanmar?
A1: Because reliable sources state she was removed from office in the 2021 Myanmar coup d'état. As an encyclopedia, Wikipedia reflects these sources, which may not align with editors' own views on the matter. The threshold for inclusion of material in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth. Wikipedia is not a place to right great wrongs, such as by determining who the rightful leader of Myanmar is based on legal principles. |
Discussions on this page often lead to previous arguments being restated. Please read recent comments, look in the archives, and review the FAQ before commenting. |

Extended-confirmed-protected edit request on 1 December 2021
This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
Please could you remove the line next to source 151 which reads "Some of the money she received as part of the award helps fund London-based charity Prospect Burma, which provides higher education grants to Burmese students" as this is not true. Source 151, Prospect Burma's website, confirms what that charity does but there is no evidence to support the statement that ASSK's money supports their work - which I am aware is not the case. Do check with information@prospectburma.org if you need to. Thank you so much for your help. Inferena (talk) 14:30, 1 December 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for spotting the errant link at the foot of https://prospectburma.org/popup/pb-faq/ This has been amended to read "her health and education trust partly funded some of our early scholarships". While there is no direct accounting link from the Nobel prize money through the trust to Prospect Burma, the trust did provide some past funding so it is probably easiest to resolve by just changing the line next to source 151 to past tense and reversing the sentence, thus it would read "Some of the money she received as part of the award helped fund higher education grants to Burmese students through the London-based charity Prospect Burma." COI declaration, I am a paid employee of Prospect Burma.Inferena (talk) 16:30, 16 December 2021 (UTC)
