Plot Summary
Sakura, the princess of the country of Clow, has a vision of a mysterious symbol as well as unfamiliar people, worlds, etc. The next day, she visits her childhood friend Syaoran at the excavation site he is working at to confess her feelings of love for him. While there, she sees the mysterious symbol that appeared in her dream carved into the floor of the excavation and begins to get pulled into it by some unexplanable force. Wings appear on her back, and she appears to go into some kind of trance. Syaoran manages to pull her back into his arms, and her wings shatter into individual feathers which immediately shoot in different directions. Although saved from being sucked into the ancient symbol, Sakura is unconscious. Yukito, a magician in Clow, tells Syaoran that if he does not retireve the feathers from Sakura's wings, she will die, as these are all of her memories. the only way to accomplish this is for syaoran to travel to different worlds and collect the memories, encountering trouble along the way.
Yukito sends Syaoran and the unconcous Sakura to the dimension witch Yuko, who is also one of the main characters in xxxHolic. She gives him a travel size version of Mokona from Magic Knight Rayearth who can transport Syaoran from one dimension to another. This gift comes at a terrible price-- Syaoran must give up the thing he values most, which turns out to be his relationship with Sakura. He will eventually collect all of Sakura's memories, all except for her memory of him. Joining him on his quest are Fai D. Flowright, a magician who left his dimension to escape an evil king and Kurogane, a ninja who was banished from his world by Princess Tomoyo.
