Eagle Plains is an unincorporated community and boreal plains region found in Yukon, Canada. Although its southernmost point is just north of the Tombstone Territorial Park, the region covers areas north of the Arctic Circle. It has a population of 8 people, who all live and work at a stopover along the Dempster Highway.

Geography

The region is generally high in elevation and sits on top of permafrost, so the only plantlife found in the plains are mosses, lichens, and small shrubs.

Being only 21km south of the arctic circle, the stopover experiences ≈ 10 minutes of civil twilight during the Summer Solstice. ^[3]

Tourism and Culture

Eagle Plains has a stopover with a hotel, which is the only place in between Tombstone Territorial Park and Fort McPherson, Northwest Territories which offers any services like hospitality and gas. Its location makes it a popular spot for travelers headed for Inuvik or hamlets like Ulukhaktok.

The stopover also has indigenous centers on site for local indigenous tribes.
