Kristyn Elizabeth Rebekah Getty (née Lennox, born 22 May 1980 in Belfast) is a Northern Irish Christian singer and songwriter. With her husband, Keith Getty, she has co-written a number of popular modern hymns.

Career

Keith and Kristyn Getty

Kristyn and Keith write and release hymns together. In 2020 Kristyn recorded the entire English Standard Version (ESV) Bible which is now available to hear for free on the ESV Bible app.

Recognition

In 2017, Kristyn Getty and Keith performed for US Vice President Mike Pence and his wife Second Lady Karen Pence at the vice president's residence, which is on the grounds of the Naval Observatory .[1] They have performed for President George W Bush, the United Nations, South Korean President Lee Myung-Bak, the enthronement of the Archbishop of Canterbury, and for former UK Prime Minister Theresa May.[2]

Their song, "In Christ Alone" reached number 3 on the BBC Songs of Praise chart in 2019,[3] was number 1 for more than 15 years on the CCLI-UK chart, and was in the CCLI-US top 20 for more than 13 consecutive years.[4][better source needed][5][failed verification] The British Hymn Society said "In Christ Alone" is one of the top 5 hymns of all time.[6][failed verification]

According to CCLl, "In Christ Alone" ranks as the No.1 most-sung song in UK churches.[7][dead link] Written by Stuart Townend and Getty in 2007, the song is the second most popular hymn in the UK according to a survey conducted by the BBC's Songs of Praise programme.[8]
