Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Violent non-state actors at sea, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Specifically: the WP:SEEALSO section is for topics that are not mentioned in the body of the article. Please add an edit summary with your edits, to explain why you are making changes. Your edits have been reverted because it was not clear to other editors that they were an improvement. Please explain this edit [1] on the article Anti-Indian sentiment where you add to "See also": Romani Holocaust and Late Victorian Holocausts. How are these articles related to the Anti-Indian sentiment article? signed, Willondon (talk) 15:52, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The main relation is both Romani and Indian face same type of discrimination. Romani are an ethnic group who traditionally lived a nomadic, itinerant lifestyle. Linguistic and genetic evidence suggests that the Romani originated in the Indian subcontinent; in particular, the region of present-day Rajasthan. And Romani Holocaust not also show discrimination against Romani (Indian origin people) but it also reflect the racist mentality of European to Indian. Oilcocaine (talk) 16:14, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I see the connection as extremely weak. Around 1000 CE, i.e. one thousand years ago, some people from India began migrating in waves to various parts of Europe. Today, they are identified ethnically as Romani. In the Romani Holocaust article, which identifies a start point as 1935 in Weimar Germany, you add "See also" Late Victorian Holocausts, which details the possible contribution of colonialism and imperialism to holocaust through famine during the years 1876-1902 and Anti-Indian sentiment, which deals with hatred "towards the Republic of India and Indian culture". After 1,000 years since migrating out of India, the connection between Romani and Indian is not strong enough to relate the Romani holocaust (c. 1935, due to racism, through murder) to other holocausts in the Victorian era (c. 1875–1900, due to imperialism, through famine) and anti-Indian sentiment in the present day. The article on Anti-Indian sentiment, being part of a series on discrimination also lists in a side-bar other targets (Afghan, African, Albanian, Arab, Armenian, Asian, China, Finnish, Greek, Haitian, Quebec, Romani, Somali, Tha, Venezuelan, Vietnamese). To reason that all victims of holocaust share a connection because they are holocaust victims is far too weak to connect them any more closely than is done in the article on holocaust. One thousand years later, there is no substantial connection between Nazi-era Romani, historic famines of the colonial era, and present day ethnic discrimanation of Romani and Indian people. signed, Willondon (talk) 17:07, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
In a nutshell, you want to say that Jewish people who died during Bar Kokhba revolt has not connection with Jewish people who died in Holocaust. This what you want to say Oilcocaine (talk) 18:23, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. Exactly. I'm not saying there is no connection between middle eastern Jews of the year 130 CE and European Jews of the 20th century, but the connection is not nearly strong enough to warrant linking the two in terms of a holocaust. signed, Willondon (talk) 19:00, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
But this still show the mentality of European Oilcocaine (talk) 05:20, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The term Holocaust, capital 'H', refers to a specific event, that is part of a much larger pattern of antisemitic violence. One can be clear about terminology and the level of connection across such a broad timeframe while still attempting to organize the material in a digestible way. @Remsense: I wasn't sure how to read your comment. Do you consider the "See also" links being discussed to be useful? Or do you think a weak connection makes them inappropriate for the article(s)? Thanks. signed, Willondon (talk) 17:24, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, my bad. I don't think they fit on the articles, so I was attempting to articulate your point using slightly different words. Remsense 17:39, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
