Isn't it kind of odd that this page doesn't have any banners at the top for getting help such as the National Suicide Prevention Hotline? I know it isn't about that, but certainly people find these pages while entertaining the idea and I think the warnings should be prominent.

1. Simple is the same as non-complicated, no need to say both
2. It sounds like its saying the inaccuracy is the simplicity of it yet the quoted source states "Those favouring hanging anticipated a certain, rapid and painless death with little awareness of dying and believed it was a ‘clean’ method that would not damage the body or leave harrowing images for others." And even this source is bad, the title is 'Factors influencing the decision to use hanging as a method of suicide: qualitative study' but the study only interviewed "12 men and 10 women who had survived a near-fatal suicide attempt. Eight respondents had attempted hanging.

SPOILERS!!
So, in the end of the first act, the protagonist's best friend hangs herself. 174.110.95.150 (talk) 22:02, 26 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Reference style

If you are going to use this reference style, you should consider using {{Harv}} templates (or its derivatives such as {{Harvnb}}), which create a link from the short footnote to the full citation in the "Sources" section. The way the article is currently written is quite awkward; for instance, "Gunnel et al." goes to a footnote that merely says "Gunnel et al.", and a reader not realizing there is a Sources section below would be wondering what the full bibliographical citation is.

See Street newspaper and Chinese classifier for some examples of articles using the Harv templates for citation. rʨanaɢ (talk) 02:10, 3 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think the cite style is okay as it is. Using harv refs would pretty much mean changing the whole ref style. Christopher Connor (talk) 04:27, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey yo, random depressed person who is reading these articles about suicide - please seek help. Life is better. Don't end your life just because something went bad. Peace my brother. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.137.96.173 (talk) 13:33, 6 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I seriously question the need to have a recommendation on what type and gauge of rope to use in this article. Does the suicide by handgun article recommend .45 caliber instead of .22 LR rounds? Does the self-immolation article recommend using petrol rather than kerosene? Show me any other credible encyclopedia that provides recommendations on how to commit suicide and I'll withdraw my objection. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zenblend (talkcontribs) 14:10, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

People are likely to use this as some kind of instruction manual as to how to commit suicide. We should include some link to a list of suicide helplines. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JubJub343434 (talkcontribs) 04:09, 18 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

That would definitely be helpful and informative. Cold as it sounds, it is not Wikipedia's mandate to provide a directory of links to sources. In this article, I added a link to List of suicide crisis lines under the See also secion.
A similar link could be useful in other articles. I don't know if the Wikipedia community has discussed this before. Willondon (talk) 04:16, 18 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Request to delete

At private email WP:OTRS in ticket:2019090610007501 a user requests deletion.

I am posting this here because eventually we need to sort this and similar requests in a meaningful way to respond. Blue Rasberry (talk) 13:39, 10 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I want to request you that a 34 year inspiring and hardworking actor died in uncertain conditions. This case had been given to Cbi and the case is still going on so i request you to change wikepedia as suicide by hanging to case under investigation. Thank you! Anonyms secret (talk) 09:23, 2 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

How does WP:NDA apply to warnings of serious injury and harm?

@Some1: Again, WP:DISCLAIMERS talks specifically about censorship and spoilers. I can see no good reason not to include a warning of potential harm or death that could be caused by viewing content on Wikipedia. Is there anything else you can support your revert with? —FORMALDUDE(talk) 23:01, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sushant Singh Rajput was murdered

As Investigation is Going on by CBI So we can't say "Suicide by Hanging" Soumyajit 2029 (talk) 10:26, 18 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Inaccurate info and not great cited sources

paragraph 2 says that people consider this a simple method but also, a non-complicated method, but that their perception is inaccurate. Then goes on to say "a study of people who attempted suicide by hanging and lived usually suggests that this perception may not be accurate." 1. Simple is the same as non-complicated, no need to say both 2.

Description of process

I would like to raise concern about the detailed description of the materials and methods required to perform suspension hanging. I don’t think it’s necessary to provide the level of detail given in paragraphs 1 and 2 of the process section (of instance the type of knot to be used). As this article contains no links to prevention sources it feels like a guide to the method rather than a source of research information. AWinzer2019 (talk) 10:34, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
