Emily Austin (born 2001 or 2002) is an American journalist, social media influencer, model, actress, and independent NBA broadcaster.[1]

Early life

Austin was born in 2001 or 2002 in the United States to Israeli parents,[1] and grew up on Long Island, New York.[2][3] She went to Hofstra University, NY to study journalism.[3][4][5] She has been visiting Israel since her growing up years, and follows Jewish traditions such as Kosher and Sabbath.[3][4]

Career

Sports journalism

In 2021, Austin started her Sports journalism career by reaching out to professional athletes to interview them during the COVID-19 pandemic, while she was still a sophomore journalism student at Hofstra University.[3] Austin, a former athlete herself, began interviewing athletes on Instagram for her vlog show, that she called Daily Vibes with Emily Austin.[3][6][7] This led her to working at MTV on Music Lives On. She also worked for Sports Illustrated as a host at NFL and boxing events.[5][6]

In 2023, Austin started an NBA podcast called The Hoop Chat w/ Emily Austin which features NBA players[8][9][6] such as Josh Giddey,[10] Grant Williams,[11] Mitchell Robinson,[citation needed] Immanuel Quickley,[citation needed] Jalen Brunson[7] and Chet Holmgren.[4]

Other work

Austin was a judge at the Miss Universe 2022.[4][5] She joined the Israeli mission to the UN where she handles English communications and public relations.[1][12] Austin has written for publications such as Newsweek.[13] She has appeared several times as a panelist on the Fox News program Gutfeld!. [14]

After the October 7th, 2023 Hamas-led attack on Israel, Austin has been vocal on the issue of anti-semitism,[15], coming out in support of Israel on social media, and also traveling to Israel in December 2023, to visit the southern border communities, that had faced the destruction by Hamas.[15]
