The 2024 Rose Bowl is a college football bowl game that is scheduled to be played on January 1, 2024, at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. The 110th annual Rose Bowl, the game will be one of the semifinals of the 2023–24 College Football Playoff and will feature two of the four teams selected by the College Football Playoff Selection Committee—the 4th ranked Alabama Crimson Tide of the SEC and the 1st ranked Michigan Wolverines of the Big Ten, with the winner to face the winner of the Sugar Bowl in the 2024 College Football Playoff National Championship game, which is at NRG Stadium in Houston. The game is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. PST and will air on ESPN.[3][4] The Rose Bowl will be one of the 2023–24 bowl games concluding the 2023 FBS football season. Sponsored by Prudential Financial, the game will be officially known as the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Rose Bowl Game presented by Prudential.

Teams
The game will feature Michigan, undefeated champion of the Big Ten, and Alabama, one-loss champion of the SEC. This will be the sixth meeting between the two teams, with their most recent meeting being in the 2020 Citrus Bowl, where Alabama beat Michigan by a score of 35–16. Alabama leads the overall series 3–2.[5] Alabama will wear white jerseys while Michigan will wear blue jerseys. The teams were welcomed to Southern California at Disneyland Resort on December 27.
Michigan
Michigan went undefeated in their 12-game regular season. Due to punishment from 2020 Covid-19 dead period recruiting violations and the Michigan Wolverines football sign-stealing scandal, they were without their head coach Jim Harbaugh for six of those games. But they still managed to defeat their arch-rival Ohio State 30–24, allowing them to advance to the 2023 Big Ten Football Championship Game, where they defeated Iowa 26–0. Entering the game, Michigan was one of just four undefeated teams in the nation at 13–0.
This is Michigan's 21st appearance in the Rose Bowl. They are currently 8–12 in the Rose Bowl. The Wolverines lost in their previous three Rose Bowl appearances, in 2004, 2005 and 2007. Their last Rose Bowl win came in 1998, where they defeated Washington State by a 21–16 score to win their most recent national championship.
Alabama
Alabama went 11–1 in their 12-game regular season. A 34–24 loss in Week 2 to Texas followed by a narrow victory over USF caused them to tumble down the rankings to No. 13 in the AP poll, but they managed to recover and reach a record of 10–1 entering their Iron Bowl game against Auburn. Alabama won the game, 27–24, thanks to a 31-yard touchdown pass from Jalen Milroe to Isaiah Bond on 4th-and-goal. In the 2023 SEC Championship Game, they defeated Georgia, 27–24, ending the latter's 29-game winning streak.
This is Alabama’s eighth Rose Bowl appearance (1926, 1927, 1931, 1935, 1938, 1946, 2021). They are 5–1–1 in the Rose Bowl.
