Surinder Films (SF) is an Indian media and entertainment company headquartered in Kolkata, West Bengal. It mainly produces and distributes Bengali films. The production house was created by Surinder Singh in 1970 as a film distribution company. In 1995, it was taken over by his son Nispal Singh. With the company producing more than 70 films, 20 television shows, 50 web series and short films.
Apart from producing and distributing Bengali films, Surinder Films is also in the business of Television content production. The other division of the company include digital content production for OTT platforms. Surinder Films has acquired the first Bengali OTT platform, Addatimes.
History
The production house was created by Surinder Singh in 1970 as a film distribution company. In 1995, it was taken over by his son Nispal Singh.[citation needed] The company divisions include film production, television production, OTT production and film distribution.[citation needed]
The debut production of the company was Rakhi Purnima by director Anjan Chaudhury.Over the last few decades Surinder’s top grossers include Paglu, Paglu 2, Mon Mane Na, Arundhuti, Jyesthoputro, Drishtikone, Ardhangini.[citation needed]
OTT Production
In March 2023, Surinder Films acquired the OTT Platform Addatimes.[citation needed]
Addatimes, which was launched in 2016 for the Bengali audience.[citation needed] The platform has announced a new line of films and web shows which are streaming or set to stream on Addatimes. The list of films includes Mitin Mashi, Kaberi Antardhan, Sagardwipe Jawker Dhan, and Love Marriage.
The web series which are presently streaming includes Amriter Sandhane - The Banaras Chapter, Tota Roychowdhury's Jawto Kando Kathmandute and Gentlemen.
Among the web series set for streaming is Nandini which marks the OTT debut of Ritabhari Chakraborty.[citation needed]
Hindi Production
In 2021, Surinder Films ventured into Hindi film production with Manohar Pandey directed by Kaushik Ganguly.[1][better source needed]
The company also produced its first Hindi television show Faltu which premiered on 2 November 2022 on StarPlus and digitally streams on Disney+ Hotstar. It ended on 20 August 2023.[citation needed]
