Construction

Tobacco blend,

This section appears to refer entirely to U.S. made cigarettes. E.g. Canadian cigarettes are almost exclusively Brightleaf Virginia and differ in additives and emissions.[1] Cigarettes in other countries are also markedly different in constituents from North American cigarettes, e.g. French Gauloises & Gitanes. The subsection should either make clear that it refers only to U.S. cigarettes, or be expanded to include other, representative countries. - D Anthony Patriarche (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 05:20, 29 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Cigarette butt

This term is largely restricted to North America. The equivalent in British English is 'cigarette end' or 'dog end'. I'm unsure of usage in other Anglophone countries. --Ef80 (talk) 10:42, 23 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the comment. PuppyMonkey (talk) 01:23, 20 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

when did this article turn into a non smoking ad?

the entire opening section after the first paragraph basically reads like one big nonsmoking ad, listing nothing but the negative effects of cigarettes and how "bad" they are for your health..

shouldnt an article open up with a general blurb or two about the main topic (the opening text above the two images seems sufficient) and then have all the specific health related risks/concerns that are listed below the images in their own subsection?

especially since there is already a subsection titled: "health effects" that contains such a ridiculously detailed breakdown of all the negative aspects of smoking, it basically makes the information after that first opening paragraph redundant.

it just doesnt seem as though it reads like a "normal" article with all that negativity being listed in the opening and then listed again in its own subsection.

i know it really doesnt matter what i think, and if i remove it somebody will just revert it.. so thats why i came here first to point out how "extra" it all seems, in hopes of someone taking another look at it and either dealing with it or getting back to me, probably with an elaborate yet somehow valid explanation as to why it "needs" to be that way.

thanks in advance. Snarevox (talk) 19:29, 28 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

nvm i found a decent reason in WP:LEAD
thx anyway. Snarevox (talk) 15:33, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I was coming here to say this. The article is biased probably cause only nonsmokers edited it. PuppyMonkey (talk) 01:25, 20 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Simple. It's all about control. Don't worry though, it's Für Ihre Sicherheit.

In the context of birth defects, please change “pregnant people” to “pregnant women”. 2601:249:601:90E0:193B:8BC7:A399:F1F2 (talk) 02:14, 29 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{Edit semi-protected}} template. Women who are pregnant fall under the umbrella of people who are pregnant. No reason not to use the broader phrasing. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 02:16, 29 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

change “an herbal cigarette” to “a herbal cigarette”

Not done: The "h" is unvoiced in the most common pronunciation, so "an herbal cigarette" is correct. —C.Fred (talk) 17:27, 17 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
