Hometown Table

@Another Believer, Sistersugarcookie, Griffindaly, Germaperry01, and 2a02:b127:8013:e1b8:8c69:387d:3630:c411:, since the situation is escalating it was recommended to open a discussion, and I decided to also call in a user of the project to get an outside point of view as well. So from my point of view I think that in the table we need to include the cities where the contestants first of all declare that they currently live, ergo people like Lina Galore, Morgana Cosmica and Sissy Lea, I think we should leave the current locations (Milan, Bologna, London), for three reasons:

  1. As it happens for the project on en.wiki all the data that we enter of the page (Name, Age and Hometowns) must be inherent to those mentioned at the time of filming, so since such Queens have explicitly said on episode 1 that they live in the previously cities, while remembering their origins, fully attest to their current location.
  2. In the source on the page about the presentation of the contestants, there are indeed cited their respective cities of origin but, at the same time it is also specified that some live elsewhere (ex. Lina Galore originally from Avellino, but lives and works in Milan), ergo Milan is the city that comes closest to the most recent temporal location. Besides the fact, it's kinda easy to do a web searches to show that the contestants' city they refer to most are the ones where they reside and perform.
  3. Still talking about temporal location, I think one must also take into consideration the fact that Sissy Lea, although "originally from Sicily" as the source says without specifying which city she's from, has been living and residing permanently in London, UK since 2003. Therefore, since she has lived twenty years abroad, and currently owns residence there, I think it is more inherent to keep the British city as the location of participation. Moreover, in the broadcast of the first episode, the latter never mentioned a specific city of origin, explaining that she is a Sicilian resident in the UK.

That said, I would like to hear your opinion on this matter in order to finally end this stalemate on the page. - Dominikcapuan (talk) 08:43, 14 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I very much agree with your statement. For example, for All Stars, we change the queens hometown based on where they live at that moment (like Trixie was from Milwaukee on season 7 and Los Angeles on AS3). So we should do the same in this situation. Germaperry01 (talk) 11:00, 14 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Your reasons (Dominikcapuan) for the changes are very questionable, even alarming: The user justifies himself by stating in the reasons “ Hometowns should be located according to where they perform most (see previous editions for an example)”, see here [1]. In previous editions, the television program showed the city of origin through graphics. From this year onwards, it's no longer like that, nothing appears anymore. It therefore seems more appropriate to me that, if we really have to include the city, we follow what has been done in previous editions. So it's your personal choice (because in previous editions your hometown appeared) and it's not difficult to understand.--2A02:B127:8F05:ABA8:BD99:FC74:1EB6:9AEA (talk) 19:41, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@2A02:B127:8F05:ABA8:BD99:FC74:1EB6:9AEA: Leaving aside that this is not a matter of personal choice (just look at the source of the promo, the MTQ and especially the first episode where they confirm that they live in these cities at the time of participation) let's take a small example off this page on how the English language Wikipedia works. Take RuPaul's Drag Race (season 15), in particular season winner Sasha Colby, as she has said in many interviews that she is originally from Waimānalo, Hawaii but, as you might guess, in the Hometown section she is listed as a contestant from Los Angeles, California as she has resided there for over 15 years, and the city she was residing in at the time of participating/filming. Many other examples can be given in this regard (e.g. Sugar & Spice also from S15), but as you can see for yourself on the other franchise pages, the city of at the time of participation is mainly used for the Hometown column, while the city of origin (if they are lucky enough to have one) will be listed later on the respective Wikipedia pages. - Dominikcapuan (talk) 20:00, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's your personal choice... not in line with previous editions for the Italian program and with what we can consider reliable on Wikipedia in English. This is an encyclopedia and not a blog. You have misrepresented your reasons. The page is under protection and you have provided false reasons.--2A02:B127:8F05:ABA8:BD99:FC74:1EB6:9AEA (talk) 20:27, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
given that the cited MTV-italia article provides both the place of birth and the current city for every contestant (e.g. Lina’s entry: “OUT OF DRAG: Giovanni Montuori, 34 anni, di Avellino, ma vive e lavora a Milano.”) both options would meet the verifiability criterion necessary for inclusion on the wiki article. i think the current city is most relevant to readers. Griffindaly (talk) 00:45, 29 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@151.43.65.230: I kindly invite you to intervene in this discussion, where there is already a strong consensus on current cities instead of origin cities, before you are reported as a vandalic user. - Dominikcapuan (talk) 19:03, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@151.19.96.134: I invite you as well (as I have done before with other users) to discuss your side of the story here to avoid further edit wars. - Dominikcapuan (talk) 12:17, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Another Believer, Sistersugarcookie, Griffindaly, Germaperry01, and 2a02:b123:f03:2562:b171:a606:170e:b3ab: Since I don't want a second edit war to start again because of the various IP addresses (since the majority had spoken for Milan here but apparently little mattered to them) can we discuss the issue here again so we can try to put a point on the issue once and for all? - Dominikcapuan (talk) 10:47, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

highs/lows

what would folks think about the return of high/low on the progress table specifically for this season, given that thus far (up to ep 3) priscilla has explicitly announced which queens are the best 3 and worst 3, solving the WP:VERIFIABILITY issue that originally led to highs/lows being removed on US/other seasons Griffindaly (talk) 00:36, 29 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Griffindaly: As much as there might be a case for reaching highs/lows, I personally would avoid reinserting them since it could set off chain edit wars on the other templates, where the WP:VERIFIABILITY issue is not well specified, and they would use the Italy S3 template as an excuse to add highs/lows to all the franchise templates. - Dominikcapuan (talk) 08:04, 29 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
