Gabriel Fontana Teixeira (born 9 March 1993), better known as Fontana, is a Brazilian drag performer, who rose to fame for participating in the first season of Drag Race Sverige.
Early life
Fontana was born in São Leopoldo, on 10 June 1993. In his childhood, he was inspired by the pop music styles of Brazilian singer, Sandy. Fontana ended up getting a scholarship to a dance company in São Leopoldo. As a teenager, Fontana took the entrance exam and was approved for dance at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, but ended up dropping out because he was unable to support himself financially and ended up dropping out of the course.
Years later, Fontana studied social work for a year at the Catholic University of Brasilia. At the age of 19, he decided to drop his studies and his job in Brazil to live in Skellefteå, Sweden. Later, Fontana moved to Stockholm.[1]
Career
Fontana was announced as one of the participants for the first season of Drag Race Sverige, which began airing on 4 March 2023. Fontana became the first Brazilian drag queen to compete in the Swedish reality series, and the second in the Drag Race franchise, after Miss Abby OMG from Drag Race Holland.
In the same month, Fontana vented on social media about xenophobic attacks he suffered after the series announcement.
