Ran Online is a free 3D 'campus-based' MMORPG. The concept is based around several schools competing for control.

Features

The source files / codes have been released to the public and as of December 19, 2006, the global for RAN ONLINE service has been shut down. RAN ONLINE files have been released to the public for interested Game Developers at a FREE MMORPG development community forums. All files are available for downloads. [www.ragezone.com]

Campus Based

The game focuses on the students of three schools (or campuses) - Sacred Gate, Mystic Peak, and Phoenix. A fourth (Leonine) school has mysteriously become dangerous due to the failure of the school's protective shields that stop their students from mutating.Players must find out what happened to Leonine campus as they progress and increase in experience.

Players can create two (2) initial characters which can be later increased with the help of "Character Cards", which are sold at the Ran Online shop, and these can be from separate schools if desired. The different campuses have different uniforms and campus layouts, but share the same skills and character classes, so as to not unbalance the game.

Character Classes

There are four character classes in RAN Online.Players can choose to be either a male or female student depending on what class they are going to create. Male students can choose to be a Brawler class who can use their fists and legs for fighting or be a Swordsman and can choose either a blade or a sword as weapons of their choice. Female students can choose to be an Archer that can equip bows for powerful long-range shots or to be a Shaman who can cast offensive magic and support characters by means of their healing and buff spells.

Player Statistics

  • Dex (Dexterity) - Adding points to this stat increases your evasion, defense and accuracy . Characters who focus on this stat have the fastest type of attacks with high evasion, defense and accuracy. Fundamental stat of archers.
  • Pow (Power) - Adding to this stat increases the attack power.Characters who focus on this stat have the highest melee attack power.
  • Int (Intelligence) or Spi (Spirit) - Increasing this stat increases the Magical attack of the character as well as the Magical defense and total Magic Points. Some prefer this stat because it's skills deliver high damage as well as decreasing Magical damage from skills. Fundamental stat of shamans
  • Vit (Vital Statistics) or Str - Adding Points to this stat increases the overall Health Points of a character, a necessary stat for melee type characters who need to takes so much damage.Fundamental stat of swordsman.
  • Stm (Stamina) - Adding Points to this stats Increases the Stamina Points of the character. Fundamental stat of brawlers.

Quests

Players can undergo quests in order to attain gold, experience or better items. Some quests are automatically assigned as characters reach certain levels, while others must be started by talking to certain NPCs.Low level characters (1-20) are rewarded for leveling up in automatically assigned quests.Characters are also restrained from leaving their school's campus until a skill quest is accomplished. This helps to ensure that low level characters do not try to take on opponents that are too difficult, and that high level characters are not

Multiple Types of Chatting

The Chat Function is divided into: General, Private, Party, Guild, Shout, and Alliance.

  • General - Can be seen by anyone within server.
  • Private(@) -Can be used to talk with a player directly and privately.
  • Party(#) - Can be seen by the members of the party you are in.
  • Guild(%) - Used to communicate with the members of your guild.
  • Shout($) - Can only be used with the help of a megaphone which can be acquired at the online shop.
  • Alliance(!) - Used by guilds that have an alliance with other guilds.

Duelling

As well as trading and party applications, players can initiate duels with each other - this must be agreed upon by both parties, and the parameters of the duel such as health regain rate for both participants and the maximum number of health potions that can be used are set before starting. There is no experience loss/gain from these battles, and are a way of proving the skill of players, and of settling disputes.

Upgrading Equipment

Players can find items within the game that can improve the quality of their equipment.Burrs, for example, can improve the attacking power of a weapon, while protection potions can be used to improve armors. Elemental attributes can be added through the use of items such as irons, sodiums, crystals and others.

shaman: strength-powerful and can control elements and protective spells and buffs. weakness:poor health easy to be strike archer: strength-powerful damage and longranged attacks occured weakness:run outs of arrows. brawler: strength-high damages and can cause high damages. weakness-it has to be in melee because of few ranged skills swordsman: strength-powerfull damages weakness-nothing but has one thing cancled like the duel of ap0calypse016 and ap0calypse021.

Personal Stores

Players can buy the ability to open personal stores to sell the items that they have. While there is a separate area for such stores, there is no restriction on opening a store in any part of the map. These personal stores sell items that cannot usually be found, but can come at a high price.
