I discovered Wikipedia late 2003, but it took some time before the truth of the 'edit this page' link dawned on me. Since August 2004, I consider myself to be a Wikipedian. I like Wikipedia very much and I am especially keen on countering the systemic bias of Wikipedia in the area of African languages and linguistics. I am furthermore likely to be found working on subjects like semantics and cognitive linguistics.

What I'm doing
Mostly I skip from one subject to another. There is always something to do. Sometimes I like to work more project-wise on a bunch of closely related articles. In the past, I have been working like that on the Gbe languages (Ewe, Fon, Anlo). Most of my efforts have gone into the parent article, Gbe languages. In the end, I will get back to the remaining articles. Or someone else will. That is the beauty of Wikipedia.

Currently I'm working on Project Senufo languages. I'm proud of the article on the Senufo language Nafaanra, which is a featured article as of 17 Feb 2005. Hmm, I noticed some Nilotic languages slipping through recently... maybe it is time indeed to do some work on languages on the other side of the African continent.

To do, short term
(long-term todo list here)

* create maps for Algerian Civil War
* gather multilingual tense information for Grammatical tense at Grammatical tense/multilingual sources
* learn from this diff (Force Dynamics EAL copyedit by MIT Trekkie)
* learn from this diff (Nafaanra language EAL copyedit by Bishonen)
* Kenyan languages (strike = created)
** Bantu: Logooli language, Dabida langauge (member of the Taita languages), <s>Gusii language</s>, Meru language, Kamba language, Embu language, Gikuyu language (or Kikuyu), Giryama language, Swahili language
** Nilotic: <s>Luo language</s> (or Dholuo), Turkana language (related to Karimojong, Jie, Toposa, Nyangatom), Camus language (Maa, together with Samburu), Maasai language (southern Maa)
***<s>Southern Nilotic languages</s>
****<s>Kalenjin languages</s>: <s>Tugen language</s>, <s>Pokot language</s>
** Cushitic: Borana language (Oromo), Rendille language, Somali language (300 000 speakers in Kenya)
* Create Dadog language, a Southern Cushitic language spoken in Tanzania according to Ehret 1980 and Heine 1976. Ethnologue has never heard about it, but it seems to be just a southern extension of Datooga language (which incidentally also should be created).
* Write an article on Dorobo/Ndorobo/Il Torobo/Wanderobo, the term used for groups of hunter-gatherers in Kenya and northern Tanzania of various linguistic affiliations (Heine 1981, Van Zwanenburg 1976, Kenny 1981, Distefano 1990).
