Pariah (transl. Untouchable)[1][2] is a 2024 Bengali language action thriller film directed and written by Tathagata Mukherjee. It stars Vikram Chatterjee in the lead role and the movie is around raising a voice against the injustice done to the stray animals.[3]
Pariah is a name collectively given to the Pye-dog, produced by Prateek Chakravorty and Avinaba Ghosh. This film was released on 9 February 2024.[4][5]
Synopsis
The plot revolves around the injustice done to the stray animals. Vikram Chatterjee plays the role of a reclusive but short - tempered man. He fights against the inhuman treatment provided to the stray dogs. In order to fight for their lives, he ends up confronting a huge dog trafficking racket.[6]

Production
Announcement
The film was officially announced on 5 November 2022 with a motion poster.[7] It garnered attention for its unique topic.[8][9]
Filming
Most of the filming has been done in parts of Kolkata.[10] It was reported that while rehearsing for an action scene, Vikram broke his small toe of left foot.[11] After recovery, he continued the shooting. For fitting in the role, he also went through rigorous mixed martial-arts training for 3 months .[12][13] He also went through a tight gym schedule of 6 months to shed off excess fat and develop a chiselled body.[14]
Marketing
The teaser was released on 3 January 2024 on Pluto Music.[15] The official trailer was released on 23 January on Zee Music Company YouTube channel, with Jeet as the chief guest at the trailer release event.[16][17]
