History
The first Hotel Indigo opened in Atlanta, Georgia, US in October 2004[2] and a second location opened in the historic Gold Coast neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois in May 2005 (later being foreclosed and re-branding as the Claridge House).[3] The chain's first non-US property, which in 2017 became the independent Metcalfe Hotel,[4] was opened in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
In July 2019 at the Traverse City, Michigan Hotel Indigo, a murder-suicide took place in room 318, blocks away from the National Cherry Festival. [5]
