I removed this from the article...

The Art Institute of Houston or AIH offers a multitude of both associate and bachelor degrees in Design, Media Arts, Culuntary Arts and Fashion. The art school is incorporated by the Art Institutes International.

AIH is on the school listing along with the many other schools not found in the main article. Postoak 20:38, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

That main picture has got to go!

I apologize to whatever user took their time to put it up, but the main picture in the article makes downtown look small and empty. What are the requirements for a picture to be put up in the infobox? Because I'm sure we can find something better than that, people.

An aerial picture of downtown at night (if found) would be ideal. Something of that nature.--68.201.118.165 22:03, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

  • I don't think it is bad at all, but if you can find better/additional photos, we would love to have them.
Please read Wikipedia:Image use policy for the rules on what you should upload. Essentially, a general purpose shot of a major city (I.e. not depicting some historical event or the like) needs to be a completely free picture with no restrictions on its use.
If you have such pictures, please don't put them on here on the English version of Wikipeida. Instead, please upload them at the Commons and place them in the article for Houston here. Then they can be linked from this article. This way, they are usable by all the different-language versions of Wikipedia. Best, Johntex\talk 22:44, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
Does it have to be from a stock photo site?--68.201.118.165 23:06, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
No, it does not. In fact, most stock photo sites do not freely release their photos. We can't just steal their work because we want to. In some cases we can use copyrighted work under fair use law, but we try not to unless there are special cirumstances. If you read Wikipedia:Image use policy you will see that the images you upload should generally be licensed creative commons or GFDL or public domain.
You will also need to set up an account, but that is free and easy and does not require you to divulge any personal info about yourself.
Some suggested sources for free images are at Wikipedia:Public domain image resources. You might want to also click on a few of the images to learn where they came from. Johntex\talk 23:20, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
