Meru Gokhale is an Indian editor who is known for her association with Penguin Random House and for publishing several high-profile authors.[1][2][3]

Career

Gokhale is the founder of Editorially (Editrix.ai) which helps the publishing process using artificial intelligence.[4][5]

Gokhale was previously a publisher at the Penguin Press Group, a publishing division of Penguin Random House India.[6][7][8] She has published several celebrated authors like Arundhati Roy, Salman Rushdie, Devdutt Pattnaik and Ramachandra Guha.[9][10][11][12] Gokhale was also a publisher for Amitav Ghosh, Jhumpa Lahiri, Sudha Murty, Nandan Nilekhani and Siddhartha Mukherjee.[9][13][14][15] She continues as a consultant at Penguin.[9]

Personal life and education

Gokhale is an alumnus of St. Stephen's College in Delhi, Columbia University in New York City and Jerusalem Editorial Fellowship.[16][17][18]

Gokhale was married to British historian Patrick French from 2007 till his death in 2023.[19][20][21]

Gokhale is a daughter of Namita Gokhale, an Indian writer and a director of the Jaipur Literature Festival.[22][23]
