Salim Diakité (born 3 June 2000) is a professional footballer who plays as a defender for Italian Serie B club Palermo. Born in France, he represents Mali internationally.[1]
Club career
In 2018, Diakité joined the youth academy of Portuguese top flight side Rio Ave.
In 2019, he signed for Olympia Agnonese in the Italian fourth division from French fourth division club Mantois.
In 2020, he signed for Teramo in the Italian third division.[2]
In 2021, he joined Serie B side Ternana.[3]
On 25 January 2024, Diakité signed a 4.5-year contract with Palermo.[4]
International career
Diakité made his debut for the Mali national team on 11 June 2024 in a World Cup qualifier against Madagascar at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa. He started the game and played 88 minutes in a scoreless draw.[5]
