== A Google review with incorrect punctuation. ==

I saw Jarvis Smith’s Little Einsteins review on Google and this is what he said.

“In the episode Firebird Rescue Leo said see you on the next mission even though it is the last episode & Leo said you can race with Rocket anytime how can I race with Rocket it’s a cartoon I can’t race with him”

Here are all the mistakes that he made on his review

# The second special is not just called “Firebird Rescue”, but “Rocket’s Firebird Rescue”. Also the last episode of Little Einsteins is actually “Little Elephant’s Big Parade”, as the “Rocket’s Firebird Rescue” special came out in 2007, and “Little Elephant’s Big Parade” came out in 2009.
# “See you on the next mission” & “You can race with Rocket anytime” is neither put in quotation marks nor is it capitalized.
# There isn’t any punctuation in the sentence.

Trivia section

This will quickly become unuseful and unmanageable if people keep adding random observations from the shows. Material that is added should be of encyclopedic character and quality. HokieRNB 19:32, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, but that doesn't mean everything should have been removed. Like the trivia tag suggests, some of the following (particularly recurring themes and character attributes) ought to be reintegrated into the document under character descriptions or show format. - Brog Likes Rocks, 5/18/07

Please find sources that would indicate these "facts" should be part of the article:

  • Rocket's engines are not actually rocket engines, but appear to be jet engines. Rocket has a Backup Booster which does appear to be a rocket; it is used on a small number of missions in season 1, but more frequently in season 2.
  • Rocket's nemesis, Big Jet, which appears four times during the first season of the show, debuted in the episode "Hungarian Hiccups".
  • Big Jet appears to be modelled on the Russian MiG-29 Fulcrum - integrated into recurring minor characters section. It's linked to the wiki article for the Mig-29 and the resembelence is pretty clear.
  • In the episode "The Birthday Balloons" Annie celebrates her birthday party in Antarctica, after they got all of her balloons back.
  • Rocket has a variety of tools and accessories that aid the team in completing their missions. Some of their names are: Look-and-Listen Scope, Grab-Nabber, Bigger Digger, Clapper-Catcher, Back-up Booster, Drum Thumper, Breeze Blower, Blazer Laser, Hammer Whammer, Super Scoop, Pogo Bouncer, and Safety Net. Rocket also has various tools used for cleaning. Some of their names are: Dust-O-Matic, Window Washer, and Zoomer Broomer. Many of these are too large to fit within the non-passenger area of Rocket, and collectively would be much larger than Rocket himself, thus Rocket stores his tools in what is sometimes called "hammerspace".
  • Rocket is given power through patting. The explanation given (in the Pilot episode) is that patting helps Rocket "feel the rhythm of the beat". No external fuel source is identified, so Rocket could be considered to be a Perpetual Motion Machine, although in season 2 is discovered that Rocket uses "Music Gas".
  • In the episode "How We Became The Little Einsteins: The True Story", Rocket was an ornament on a baby mobile that Leo had possessed, which eventually grew up, as did the characters.
  • Rocket built his own home.
  • Leo's first word was 'Rocket'
  • On the Halloween special episode, Quincy is dressed as a bat, Leo as a spider, June as a witch and Annie as a pumpkin.
  • Besides dancing, June also is interested in astronomy, and looking at the stars.
  • In season 1, Annie wears a blue dress. In season 2, her dress is pink.
  • It is rumoured that in season 2, a new team will be presented and will be composed by teenage cousins of the main characters, and will be named "Big Einsteins".
  • In the Halloween special, the characters are all dressed up to go "trick-or-treat". Leo is dressed as a Spider, June is dressed as a Witch, Quincy is dressed as Bat and Annie is dressed as a Pumpkin. Plus, Rocket's interior is decorated with Hallowe'en decorations.

National origins

Unless someone can introduce a citation regarding the national origins of the characters, please refrain from guessing at them. HokieRNB (talk) 19:16, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ending?

Why does someone keep inserting an ending date? Has this been announced? What's the source? HokieRNB 13:08, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted the same edit multiple times. If there is a legitimate date when this show is planning to go off the air, please point to a reliable source, and I will leave the edits intact. Until then, I will keep reverting it as unsourced. HokieRNB 20:56, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New Characters/ New Voice-Over Artists

Hi, um, I've read the rumor of new characters for Season 2. Where does this information come from? Also, I've been playing on a couple of Little Einsteins games on Playhouse Disney's official site, and I've noticed that someone else besides Jesse Schwartz (Leo's usual Voice Actor) is voicing Leo instead. I may not have been able to find information on that, but does anyone know if there will be replacement VAs for the Little Einsteins?WikiFoxGirl (talk) 06:47, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Quincy's Wikipedia Troubles

In the character bio for Quincy, a reference is made to a (disgruntled) "Quincy Nelson." No citation nor identification is given for this Mr. Nelson. Who is he, why is he upset, and, without a concrete reference, why should we care? Suggesting that the text referring to this individual be removed in 30 days unless a proper citation is appended. F117-A (talk) 03:19, 13 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Today it was noted that someone had changed the namesake listing for Quincy from "Quincy Jones" to some character named "Quincy Carter" (listed elsewhere on Wikipedia as an American football quarterback). As obvious vandalism, I have changed the reference back to Quincy Jones. F117-A (talk) 11:21, 7 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There are only two seasons of this show and it should reasonably fit on the main article about the show not requiring a separate page. Technical 13 (talk) 12:38, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds like a good idea to me. Trivialist (talk) 22:35, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

They should leave it the way it is. There are most other articles on TV shows have a separate list of episodes on Wikipedia. Just my two cents. Frschoonover (talk) 20:51, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

So how long after a discussion like this starts, is it decided to remove the "Discuss" tag from the front of the page?
I don't think it's rational to merge the articles. Shows like Little Einsteins will have only a few seasons but A LOT of episodes in it. Putting a table with 67 episodes - with summaries - would be a mess to merge into the main article - IMO not reasonable at all. I think not only should we not merge them, but unless there are further points to be made on the subject, the issue should be closed to remove the notation from the page - it has been sitting for 2+ years. DVD Releases

My Fellow Wikipedians

I am trying to add on a DVD release that took place only in the UK and other countries. The DVD is called "Oh Yes, it's Springtime" and I would like to add it to the DVD release list, but I am having problems. I want it to look like the other DVD releases on the list, but it isn't coming out right. The DVD, though an international release, uses the American voice versions on the DVD. Here is the link to the DVD release that was on September 1, 2009:

http://www.ezydvd.com.au/DVD/little-einsteins-oh-yes-its-springtime/dp/814425

If anyone can help so I can add this to the list properly so it will match the list properly the way that it is formatted, please let me know and I will use whatever advice that is given to me. Thanks in advance to all of you for any suggestions and advice. Frschoonover (talk) 20:44, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Where is the DVD release list? Is it Little Einsteins#Episode guide? If it's DVD's and not TV episodes then it should say so. If you save your broken code here then others can see what's wrong with it. PrimeHunter (talk) 22:04, 2 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The DVD release list is below "Episode Guide" and underneath "Main Article 'List of Little Einsteins episodes'". I am trying to format my addition the way that I see it after pressing "Edit" in the section, but again, it is coming out wrong and not the way it is formatted. Here is the way that it keeps coming out:

| Oh Yes, it's Springtime (UK release, with American voices) || "Farmer Annie", O Yes, O Yes, it's Springtime", "Annie and the Beanstalk" || September 1, 2009

Again, I try to do it the way that I see it after pushing "Edit" and seeing all the symbols used after pushing "Edit". I don't know why it's coming out the wrong way and not formatted the way all the other DVD releases are formatted. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.Frschoonover (talk) 13:22, 3 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It worked for me.[1] Did you forget |- on the preceding line? PrimeHunter (talk) 13:54, 3 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I applied some fixes to the table. There were some other formatting issues. The table column names weren't displaying. I changed "collection" to "DVD releases" to make it unambiguous that we are referring to DVD releases. Anyone know why the DVDs are arranged that way? Seems like they should either be ordered by title or release date. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 14:07, 3 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

As I said, I tried everything and didn't forget anything, I also did the "|-" thing, but it still didn't work out the way that it was supposed to work and the way that I did it came out the way that it did above. Thanks to both PrimeHunter and Cyphoidbomb for all their help and assistance.

There is another Little Einsteins DVD release coming on June 18, 2013 called "Incredible Shrinking Adventure". I am not sure what episodes will be represented until the DVD is released. I just thought that I would update you all on this upcoming DVD release. Frschoonover (talk) 17:12, 3 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you save the whole broken table code somewhere, for example User:Frschoonover/sandbox, then we can see what was wrong with it. The one line you saved was not broken so there must have been something else wrong. If you are not used to editing tables then it's easy to miss a detail in the syntax. PrimeHunter (talk) 01:16, 4 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I just changed the DVD release list. I put the DVD's in their proper release order by date of their respective releases. I also had another tab with this page on it so I wouldn't make any mistakes nor forget the episodes on their respective DVD's. Now, it looks right.

I am still hoping to learn how to properly set up where it come out as on the table when I want to add the newest DVD release on June 18, 2013. It is not that I am not used to editing on tables, it is simply adding on a particular DVD release to the table and doing it the right way so it will come out as it is formatted as on the table and be likewise with all the others. Thanks in advance to anyone who can visit my personal talk page and give me some ideas on how I can do it properly. Frschoonover (talk) 00:59, 18 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

July 2013 - Episode List question

I am trying to add the latest DVD release "The Incredible Shrinking Adventure" to the list of DVD releases, but so far, I am again having difficulties trying to add this latest release to the DVD list. I am trying to format it the way that it is on the article, but again, I am having a hard time. How can I make another "box" the way that it is on the list to add this latest DVD release to the list of DVD releases. The episode titles on the latest DVD releases are as follows: "The Incredible Shrinking Adventure", "Quincy and the Instrument Dinosaurs", "Rocket the Bug", and "The Sleeping Bassoon" and the DVD release date is June 18, 2013.

Can anyone help me out here on how I can format this to match the others on the DVD list? Thanks.Frschoonover (talk) 15:43, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The short answer is that you should copy/paste the last rows, including the |- (pipe, dash) that appears above it, and the || (pipe, pipe) that denote the end of each column, then change the data to suit your needs. The even shorter answer is that I've prepared the row for you. Add the episode titles and the release date, then (and this is the really important part) delete the <!-- that appears before the row, and the --> that appears after it. Those bits of markup prevent the row from showing on the page. Hope that helps. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:53, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The edit that I am trying to make is not appearing on the article. I even tried refreshing the article, but so far, nothing has been showing up. What did I do wrong? Thanks for any help on this.Frschoonover (talk) 18:09, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please re-read my previous answer. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:10, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I read and re-read it, but as I said, nothing that I am trying to add has been appearing on the article. I had to undo my previous editing attempts as they, unintentionally, removed the bottom portions of the article in regards to the external links and the sections on Playhouse Disney and Disney Junior. Again, I tried everything, but nothing is working.Frschoonover (talk) 18:18, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Looking through your edits, I can see exactly where you're confused. You submitted the episode information fine, you just didn't do all of what else I told you to do. Look at this diff. When you see what you missed, you'll have a pleasant epiphany! Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:22, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Meaning of the title

Resolved

What the ... is the title "Little Einsteins" hinting at??????????????? The characters shown there - much less the intended viewers - are anything but intellectuals!— Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.141.31.198 (talkcontribs) 15:35, January 16, 2014‎

I would think reading the article and noting that it is by The Baby Einstein Company would have made it obvious that that show is for very young children. - SummerPhD (talk) 16:54, 16 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This explanation is a tautology.80.141.44.41 (talk) 19:26, 20 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Feel free to research the intentions of the producers and add an explanation to the article, citing independent reliable sources. (Personally, I believe the name was meant to imply that the show is for German Jews of short stature.) Then, you might wish to tackle the non-luxurious Ritz Crackers, fruit and nut-free Grape Nuts, various divisions in the United States, an uneducated, pepperless Dr Pepper and other baffling proper nouns. If, in your research, you are unable to locate reliable sources discussing any of these, consider it a life lesson. - SummerPhD (talk) 23:43, 20 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
SummerPhD's well-demonstrated dry wit aside, it's not really all that complicated; even if the show wasn't associated with the Baby Einstein brand, the title wouldn't be hard to figure out. Einstein was a known aficionado of fine art, he had an abiding love of classical music, and he began playing violin when he was about 5 - which is the same approximate age of the children in Little Einstein's, as well as their target demographic (though my 3 year old nephew has been in love with the show for about a year). It's not as if his work in physics is all anyone knows about Einstein. In particular Einstein was a known fan of Mozart and Beethoven, who both get a fair amount of play on the show.
As far as the comment that the characters or the viewers are anything but intellectuals - they are preschoolers and kindergartners. I would think anyone could see the benefit in small children being given a fun way to learn about art and classical music. Pauline Einstein also seemed to believe that some education in classical music would benefit her son's intellectual pursuits in life, and there is hardly evidence to the contrary. If anything I take the show's title to reference her opinions and behaviors more than her son's. My nephew knows the names of more musical instruments, on sight AND sound, than many adults do. Is he yet an intellectual? Obviously not. But if he does grow to be one I will consider his fascination with the show, and music in general, to be part of his path toward one. IMDb reviews, TV.com reviews, user reviews...

In these edits [2][3][4] editor @Anderswarr: has added 1) Unsourced summary of critical response. 2) Content about viewer reviews from TV.com and IMDb. On the basis of WP:TVRECEPTION I have removed this content, but Anderswarr seems adamant that it should remain. I am proposing the removal on the basis that we already have a consensus on this matter. Viewer reviews are not within our scope of interest unless the fan response has reached such a point when it becomes noteworthy on its own. Also, we don't summarize critical response unless we can directly attribute the summary to a critical response aggregator, or to a reliable source that describes the series as having received "mostly positive reviews" or similar language. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 20:20, 19 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

With regard to viewer reviews, I would agree with you. Viewer reviews are not notable in their own right. They are not from professional critics, and have no editorial oversight. Fan opinion is measured through TV ratings, just like in film articles where they are measured via box office numbers. Specific fan opinion is too isolated, and you cannot make an accurate description of fan response based solely on what IMDb or TV.com are listing (since that is based solely on the people that go to those pages). Fan response can be measured from third party sources (e.g., Variety) who are charting it themselves and making a professional opinion of those response (that makes them notable).  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 20:57, 19 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Bignole: Thoughts about "mostly positive" critical response assessment? Metacritic doesn't have scores for any season of the series. Rotten Tomatoes doesn't have the series on its radar. This would suggest the assessment is original research. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 21:02, 19 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Generally, I would say "no". When you have aggregate data, you don't need to say "mostly positive/negative", because the data speaks for itself. It removes interpretation from the equation. Now, I am generally ok with something with it comes to things like individual episodes, because there usually isn't aggregate data on individual episodes and you are trying to summarize a list of reviews yourself. It's a finicky line, but in the case of a parent article I don't see why you would need that when you have RT and MC. Additionally, I think that the lead may be a different beast then say the actual reception section. The reason being, you're not going to repeat the data in the lead, and it's probably best to summarize what you're seeing from the data. The one caveat that I would have is that if it becomes contentious (e.g., saying negative, mixed, positive when a series has a RT approval rating in the 40s, 50, 60s, etc) then it would probably be best left out completely (or force a consensus on the talk page on selecting one and leaving a hidden note explaining that).  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 21:20, 19 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Agree with everything Bignole said. I'd add though, that if you do want to go the "mostly positive/negative" route, it is best to have a third party source that looks at multiple reviews for the content make that conclusion. I am of the party that believes aggregate data speaks for itself, allowing readers to form their own opinions on what those numbers mean for reception. It we start adding ourselves these statements, that leads to edit wars because every user has a different opinion. And it is not our job to state our opinions in the articles. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 04:27, 20 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Why not? The characters obviously have racial characteristics. Why it is not reflected in article? 212.109.7.6 (talk) 08:30, 1 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This seems to be about my revert of an edit saying that Quincy has "brown skin". My edit summary was "I give up: Why are we pointing out ONE character's sckinsic color?"
I do not see any indication that Quincy's -- and ONLY Quincy's -- apparent race is in any way relevant to the show. Additionally, singling out one character's race sets brown skin as "different", with the apparent assumption that paler skin is normal and expected. This is generally not a good practice anywhere and certainly not helpful here. - SummerPhD, v2.0 12:46, 1 June 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tefkasp (talkcontribs)
Agree 100% and I've fixed this same mistake in other articles. Tefkasp said what I would have said. Brown skin is not "different", that it should be mentioned, where the light-skinned characters' shades are not. And we typically don't go around mentioning skin tones anyway. "George Costanza is a balding, white-skinned man" is just not we do things. Perceived ethnicity is irrelevant to our understanding of the series anyway, unless the Little Einsteins have made a point of celebrating Asian culture, or African culture, or White Middle-America culture, or whatever. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:44, 1 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

What is with all the apparent vandalism?

Can someone explain to me why this page keeps getting what appears to be vandalism? Why is this TV show contentious enough to cause this issue? I just reverted an edit that - good faith presumption aside - is clearly someone trying to screw around with the page, unless someone is silly enough to think there's an episode called "Big Al, & Mike's Pool Party."

Also, in searching other stuff to make sure someone wasn't confusing their title names, I found similar vandalism on TV.com. http://www.tv.com/shows/disney-little-einsteins/the-puzzle-of-the-sphinx-1140338/ I already let TV.com know they have a vandalism problem as well. But is there some backstory to this issue that I'm missing? CleverTitania (talk) 22:06, 22 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've been reverting unsourced/unexplained date changes at Baby Einstein for a while. We've had similar problems at List of VeggieTales Episodes (unsourced/unexplained date changes, repeated changes to voice actors, etc.) In a wide range of articles but especially focused on Full House and other "family" TV shows, we have a recurring problem with addition of unsourced fictional ages. Similar problems abound.
I don't have a specific answer, other than to note that all of the articles mentioned here are shows intended for/favored by young kids.
We have had some success at List of VeggieTales Episodes. By merging the numerous impacted articles, we seem to have substantially reduced the problem. I don't see obvious ways of applying any of this here. I'll be watching to see if anyone suggests anything here that I might be able to borrow. - SummerPhDv2.0 03:24, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Summer did a hell of a job cleaning up that VeggieTales mess! Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:21, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the information Summer. That actually clarifies the issue a lot more for me. There are multiple comments on this page suggesting that Little Einsteins is part of "progressive indoctrination," such as strange concerns about the race of the characters and encouraging young children toward education and the classics. Where as Veggie Tales and Full House are the other side of the coin - they're both shows associated with teaching moral lessons, with some connections to conservative values (though FH mostly due to Candace and her family connections). I can see how trolls from both sides of the philosophical divide are screwing around with these pages.
Obviously it doesn't change our role - check the edit is incorrect and revert - but I feel less oblivious to what's going on now. CleverTitania (talk) 05:37, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting theory, but it doesn't explain changing release dates, voice actor names or fictional ages. There is nothing ideological about whether a show was release on June 7 or May 16 or an actors name was Richard or Rich. The merge I completed at Veggietails started with a proposal to remove numerous Bible cites which attracted little comment.
One of the editors at Veggietales, User:208.93.182.157, was blocked as a sock of a longtime vandal, User:Bambifan101, but I don't see much behavior by the other IPs that would tie them to him.
In any case, unless/until we have something further to go on, I don't suspect there is any way to "get to the bottom of this". WP:RBI seems to be our only meaningful option. - SummerPhDv2.0 16:52, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, strange behavior even for a troll with motivation. So here's a follow up question. When you have something which is clearly vandalism, I know we don't always report it as such because we need to assume good faith, but do you even bother to open up a non-existent Talk page to try and communicate with the user? I just had to revert the same basic edit as the one which prompted me to start this section. Do you even bother engaging them before requesting a block from an admin? CleverTitania (talk) 01:07, 26 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
In my experience, you are unlikely to get a block for them without a warning or three. Further, any future discussion of the behavior is easier with warnings on the talk pages. Finally, WP:TWINKLE makes it absurdly easy to place the warnings. - SummerPhDv2.0 03:53, 26 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Two voice actors for June?

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the VA for June. IMDb and a few other places list two people as voicing June, Huang and Poppy Lee Friar. Is this another character, did they voice the same character, or did Friar replace her during the series at some point? Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 08:37, 27 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Friar does June's voice in the UK version of the show. Check the last section of the page; it lists the UK voice actors and the differences between the U.S. and U.K. versions. CleverTitania (talk) 09:12, 27 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Annie’s shoes in Season 1 are actually pink and white, not MAGENTA and white. Plus, there should be no “The” before “Little Red Train”. In the category "Characters", the description for Leo should be changed from the original grammatically incorrect "largest member of the group" to "oldest member of the group". HGWells618 (talk) 09:59, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Character Descriptions

I hate that the description of each of the five team members has been removed by MrOllie! I know it is excessive details, but I would like to have that information so I can see what each of them does. Also, I would like to have their physical appearances (skin color, hair color, eye color, and clothing for the humans/model for Rocket) so I can see how they look. Your personal preference is not a reason to add cruft to the article. MrOllie (talk) 03:39, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What do you mean, MrOllie?! Jason Feiner (talk) 04:01, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly what I said. Wikipedia is not here to provide what you would personally like. MrOllie (talk) 04:15, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So we CAN'T have the characters' descriptions?! Jason Feiner (talk) 04:22, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A Google review with incorrect punctuation.

  1. The second special is not just called “Firebird Rescue”, but “Rocket’s Firebird Rescue”. Also the last episode of Little Einsteins is actually “Little Elephant’s Big Parade”, as the “Rocket’s Firebird Rescue” special came out in 2007, and “Little Elephant’s Big Parade” came out in 2009.
  2. “See you on the next mission” & “You can race with Rocket anytime” is neither put in quotation marks nor is it capitalized.
  3. There isn’t any punctuation in the sentence.
