Kurumba Gounder is a "shepherd" caste from the state of Tamil Nadu. Kurumba caste is also known by the names Kurumba, Kuruba, Kuruma, Kuruva, Pal, Gadariya etc.

A Hindu ceremony characteristic of the Kurumba Gounder are gatherings at a Mahalakshmi temple for a ceremony of supplication for health and success, during which coconuts are smashed on supplicants' heads.[1]kurumba Gounder people widely wear such unique mahalakshmi thali and pottu thali.
