A string line is a tool made for the purpose of marking a straight line, level, or corner for construction purposes. when building foundations, string lines are hung on batter boards[1]
Functions
- When tiling it is used to mark a straight line where the tiles are to be laid
- In bricklaying it is used for the same purpose of finding a straight line
- In foundation building it is used to find the center of the foundation
